Okay something happened and basically this lady wanted revenge so she complained to the cops that this gal swore at her, based on that, do the police have the right to take action? Meaning, if you swear at a person, is that a good enough reason to get the cops involved? What's the worst thing that the cops could do to that gal, although she didn't really swear.. but the lady claimed that she did.
Is there any Omani rule, that states that swearing is a crime? Also, is it possible to consider it a crime without having proof. I mean, how will the cops know if the lady isn't fabricating the story?

Another thing, what about age? Does the person have to be legal in order to be seen as a person who has committed a crime? What if you're under-age?

I don't think so. It says in the article provided that you should refer to section 34 for what falls under harrassment.
Anyway, I think the best thing is that the girl should get another instructor so that she and her 'instructor' can have a piece of mind, since this 'telling the cops how badly we get on' looks really silly. I don't think the cops are really interested in hearing abt it, especially if the culprit is a minor- hence they are not dealing with a mature adult of sound mind !

According to the Omani law, the one Rossonero provided, if you swear at someone he/she can take you to court. So yes, the police do have the right to take action when they receive such complaints.

You report that to the police, the police takes the case to the court (that's the action taken by ROP) and then the court decides whether that is considered swearing/offending by the law or not.

Anything demeaning to a person is considered an insult, in most cases the cops try to settle these matters at the police station. Sometimes the issue gets bigger and eventually goes to court. But it’s rare in the case of an insult.
This law is important, without it some individuals can go out of hand and insult others publicly! Keep in mind, if you respond to insult in the same manner then you can’t really complain to the police.

But I believe that the cops are there not only for the so called 'crimes' which is what I got through your thread. However, the cops should be able to distinguish between silly and real. For example, in Muslim countries -as I know- if someone call you a b!tch not the kidding/swearing way, but a real wh*re you can call the cops and even sue her for accusing you so.

if i do get an insult from someone without a reason, common sense says to avoid them, or just give a blank stare and move on as they are already proving themselves a tool by insulting a complete stranger for no reason. but going to the cops for an insult......be serious please! the next post about the cops being able to distinguish between silly and real is bang on target

in the first place who complained about he insults are the people not the cops ,
so its not silly if someone turned for help to get from someone who can get your rights
the people are silly who look for any problem to complain about and get money
