    Oman and The World Cup

Friday, 5pm at the Sultan Qaboos Stadium. Game 2 of the World Cup Qualifying. Unfortunately they lost to Japan yesterday, no surprise.. Japan and Oz are the two best teams in the group. Iraq and Jordan drew 1-1 yesterday too. Oman should be fighting for 3rd place and the playoff round of qualifying I think.

Entrance is 2 rials on Friday.

You shouldn't expect them to beat Japan or Australia. Japan has a very strong domestic league and their star players are with Champions League teams in Europe. Australia have most of their players in Europe and a developing league. It's incomparable.

    Aha... If Oman can't win = I won't go!

All the best to the team though. They are good but they always run out of steam half-way. Football is a full time job; our players should only focus on the game and train for a marathon to win.

" we shall support you ONLY if you win"?? what kind of support is that?!!...meh !

i watched the game with Japan, and yes i can honestly say that i would pass the japanese goal keeper and wouldnt recognize who he was. Yes we did play like we were under some sort of self inflected spell (lack of concentration, not well organize and in a haze)...but come on...its the same team that brought the gulf cup home.

if we cant win, then we cant win....but at least the players should give us the supporters a solid game!! thats all am asking for.

Though I wish Oman the best on Friday's match against Australia,I am afraid that from what I saw on the Oman vs Japan match the Oman team will have to play more aggressively otherwise they will lose!

Oman beat Australia few months ago

They can beat them again, especially at home

Oman must win all the home games and draw a few away matches to have any chances

My pictures. I got one of the new Oman shirts through work, but they sell them in the sports shop at Al Masa Mall.

The only reason I would want Oman to win is because my husband is Omani. Other than that I dom't care.

Partly empty in places where the sun was out in full force. It was well filled in other spots. Not sure what they can do to make it a sell out.

We don't want them to win The World Cup! We want to participate in it, even if we lose by 10 goals... which I doubt would happen.

Whats the point? really?!! other than getting higher in the world ranking and getting recognized by other countries, the players may get Contracts from European Clubs. Do you expect that Oman would win the world cup? no they won't... so why the hassle then lets call off Football in Oman just for the sake of the untrue fans of football who think that only winning is satisfying. Go Watch Captain Majid (captain tsubasa), at least he doesn't lose that much then.

Woow...so all you got from my words is either Oman should win the world cup or people should stop playing football in Oman!!! now THATS what I call extreme thinking...

Never liked captain Majid, the thought of him kicking the ball by his foot and hurting his shoulder while doing so didnt make any sense to me even thou is as a cartoon!!! But on the positive note, Oman teams performance while playing Japan was funnier then any cartoon.

    Thanks Gypsy

Its not extreme thinking, but what you said implies it. We know that our team can't be compared to teams that play in the World cup, but at least I know for a fact that our team plays good against world cup winners. Brazil against Oman 2 - 0 even if it was a friendly, was a good game played by Oman. not forgetting that even the substitutes in the Brazilian Team play in better clubs than our players.
