    Importing Subtitles in VLC

I'm having a problem. I need to add Arabic subtitles for this movie, but it doesn't seem to work!!

I downloaded a file online and I keep trying to view it on VLC but it doesn't work. I keep getting weird letters instead of Arabic.

    Help?

    have you tried Vobsub ?

the first thing you need is to download VirtualDub (Google it it's a freeware)
then download VobSub which is A plug-in for VirtualDub (Google it as well)

then when you finish all the installing and everything, then put your movie and your subtitle in one folder, and they have to be in the same name

    Sample.Divx
    Sample.Srt

and the Vobsub will play the subtitle along with the movie at the same time

this ofcourse if you were watching divx movies. i'll search a bit more about your problem

    Thanks Yuffie

You need to use software which support Arabic *unicode* & Russian *cyrillic fonts.

SubtitleWorkshop should work for Arabic unicode to edit the subtitles.

For Encoding (burning) of subtitles in Arabic below softwares work fine

    Software1
    Software 2
Anyway, it turns out that every DVD creating software encode the subtitle file while converting the video file to DVD, and from there you should edit the page code to the language you want. You don't need anything else extra, it was very stupid from me when I thought it may be a Regional Option or some Windows related problem. I should check the program settings well before I make myself confused with Internet forums

HOPE THIS might help a bit. as i'm not very aware of dealing with VCL

    Thanks Yuffie

So i read that you need to do certain steps if you want to burn the video as a DVD on a CD, but I don't want that...(are these the steps you posts? *yes, I'm this lost*)

In the subs I downloaded from the internet, it said that I don't need to do anything but make sure it has the same name as the video and it should work.

So I managed to get some weird Arabic subtitles...but they don't make sense...none of the words make sense (seems Kurdish LOL) but I made sure it's Arabic...

I'm just being stubborn, but I'm starting to think it's not worth it...

well, I've tried my best in the past to import arabic subtitles in the movies i download, but it was a pain in the @$$.

and the steps i posted got nothing to do with burning, just do the steps play the movie (real player) and the Arabic sub will show,

you need a good source for your subtitles. so google yourself a good one.

    Thanks Yuffie

To be sure the subtitle is all fine, you can try playing it with Windows Media Player, if it appears as it supposed to be, then nothing wrong with the subtitle, it could be with the VLC player not supporting Arabic characters as subtitle maybe.

as long as your video player supports unicode, it should work... never tried arabic subtitles...
    Holy Quran 49:13.
"O Men! Behold, We have created you all out of a male and a female, and have made you into nations and tribes, so that you might come to know one another. Verily, the noblest of you in the sight of God is the one who is most deeply conscious of Him. Behold, God is all-knowing, all-aware".
