It was on last Thuersday at the Khuwair Sand Dunes (3rooq)

this year it was better organized than last year, but still lacked the proper outcome...

first, similer to last year, it was never mentioned or heard about that there will be a challenge, nor a location... it only spread by word of mouth, since i am fortunate to own a jeep, some of my friends told me about the challenge...

second was getting there and parking, the race was held in a remote location, and only 4WD could make it with easy, many cars were blocked, even the fire truck couldnt make it to the place...

thrid, they place is a mess now, its filled with trash, or thats what i saw yesterday when i went to see the place again, and do some practice myself :D

overrall it was better than last year, and i am looking forward for next years event... hope they tell us about it before hand...

Way to go Wranglers, We Rule...

i remember you talking about that last year...but i was wondering once there what happens? i mean do u just spend the whole day there trying out the cars on the sand dunes?

Or is it a sort of competiton?

its a competetion to see who can make it to the top of a hill, a feat that looks imposiable...

the only cars which were able to make it over the hill were the ones fitted with nitros (Nos)...

the challenge started from 1:30pm to 6pm

later on, in taqatoo3, some cars were burning rubber, spining, etc... till the police came :kewl:

well, they were split up into two teams, one team with no modifications and anohter with the NOS, racing filer, Intake, exghsost system, the works...

so it was fair for both teams...

Bimmi its a Gas (nitrous) I think (NO)
used in sporty cars and some other cars to give power and velocity!

correct me if am wrong guys ;) I aint having a NITROUS in ma Car! wont take the Heat at all! LOL

nitrous gas used in cars during the last 8 years in oman and it is not allowed now..
i remeber two cars used to have it Honda CRX and Mustang .
and i attended the CRX race with many cars and i had a greta speed.

NOS: Nitrous Oxide System

The injection of nitrous oxide into an engine means that more oxygen is available during combustion. Because you have more oxygen you can also inject more fuel, and that means the same engine can produce more power. Nitrous oxide is one of the simplest ways to provide a significant horsepower boost to any gasoline engine.

thanx M5 thatwas wonderful information.. but i wonder how does t affect the speed.. from your explaination it seems to me it deals with less fuel consumption , i,e better economy..

combustion of fuel is done in presence of oxygen, and no combustion is possible without air. Nitrous Oxide supplies more oxygen to the engine which accelerates the combustion process. Higher combustion rates allow more fuel to flow and hence gets combusted in turns. So you actually use more fuel. The opposite way you actually put a fire down by using the fire extinguisher compound, which allows less supply of exygen to burned material causing less combustion.

although NOS increases horse power, some stuff need to be changed in the engine like the pistons. Titanium pistons are stronger and could resist more movement. NOS is very bad for the car, but I would prefer going for a super charge or a turbo system instead of NOS. They are more Natural than NOS. Besides NOS produces alot of NOX components which are very devestating to the environment.

i got your point, so more oxygen is available means fuster consumption.. which leads to faster piston movement...
worth looking at it in depth .. thanx for rising such a field for me..

makes more sense to me now..

thanx for teh clarification..

Fahad I am not sure, but you are mixing between combustion which is burning and consumption which is usage.

yeap agree with u buring means usage of fuel..

in my free time i will try to search in depth about the NOS
