hmm.........my basic information about it..is that its yes...the heart stops for less then a sec...at the moment of sneeze..and that it is impossible..to keep the eyes open!!! ........nooooo way!... i tried.....to keep mine open..but i couldnt! :( :p
hmm...about what causes the sneeze..i think its when your nose gets sensitive...(example like if you breathe in some dust) and requires....to cough - them out...maybe....:lost:

Your soul may accidently be expelled from your body. It's very frightening. But if you hold your hand in front of your mouth, you may slow its escape and eventually inhale it all back in.
Or is that saliva.
Oh, never mind.

Sneezing is a protective mechanism that God provided it for us..
Its an expiratory effort,,,a REFLEX that happens when there is an irritant in the respioratory system (specially the upper part of it or the nassal passageways)..
So by this reflex the irritant hopefully will be expeled...and kicked out of the system...or the respiratory tract...
irritants can be...Pollens...Dust.....foreign bodies...or infection....
never the less it also helps in clearing up the pathways from impacted Mucus
do u know the speed of a sneeze blow? Very fast i think 100 miles per hour MMm does it equal 150km/hr I THINK? correct me if am wrong
about heart issue...I heard about that some where and i think its real...But am not sureabout it...maybee the pressure that is caused by the sneezing blow is Great that can compress the heart and hence stop it from beating for very very limited time....as because sneezing it self happens by force of increased intrathorasic (or pressure in the chest) Pressure :) and that the Glottis opens up suddenly to release that pressure..........any one have other explanation more than welcomed to comment!...
by the way when u sneeze u cant keep ur eyes open cause the face muscles r also involved in this involuntry reflex.....

Well this is another nice question ...MMm
The reason of hiccups is the diaphragm...(7ijaab el 7aajiz)...
that membrane present underneath the lungs..In most cases there is no obvious cause of hiccups thats why its abit a mystery BUT any direct irritation to the diaphragm can cause it....(abscess , liver conditions or tumer or whatever) or indirect irritation to the nerve supplying it (called phrenic nerve).==>.This can be by (eating too much food :D...heart burn.. etc)......
this irritatation cause the rythmic movment of the diaphragm to be lost and it becomes abit jercky or shaky irregular movment ...this is followed by sudden closure of the vocal cords hence giving u that sound of Hiccup :D
whats intresting in this diaphragm thingy is that its a voluntry and same time invulontry muscle/membrane!..
U control it when u talk or hold ur breath or breath it self!conciously...BUt once u hold ur breath for long enough that specific nerve stimulate it and hence the diaphragm contracts then U wont be able to hold ur breath much more longer!!!
i KNOW...abit deep info!...
LEMME ask U this
what do u do when u get a HICCUP?

very imformative thug...:D ..now i know.. sneeze was almost what i thought..:)
when I get a HICCUP, i either hold my breathe...or....hmm....cant remember..i guess i only hold my breathe
sneeze are what join the top half of slegs to the bottom
Hiccups occur when you accidentally inhale a jinn, especially on beaches or in wooded areas and in pubs. They may be cured by puncturing the chest with a large, sharp awl, or by holding your breath and gurning like a loon to allow the jinn to exit comfortably.

I thank u thugy for sharing that with us..very informative indeed...
I read once that trying to avoid a sneeze is very dangerous.. it may cause death..
the article said that a sneeze may go very far.. sth like a kilometer..
thanx thug for ur information and help in helath and edu sabla..
i will add one thing regarding hiccup,
the main resaon behind hiccup is low level of carbon dioxide in the body, the mechanism behind this is not well explained but it is related to some mechanisms within the brain neuronal connections.
therefore, the stratigy to relive hiccup is to raise teh carbon dioxide level in teh blood.. and thsi is done by stopping breathing ot drinking watre cos while swollowing bretahing stops..
