Guys..

Do you know Lamya Mughairi ,if not, she is a beautiful omani singer who formerly lived in uk but now moved to us for her singing career.

Well...they are saying she will compete with top singers such as Jenifer Lopez and others who are famous..anyway her new track is called Learning from Falling !

Go and get it now from your closest audio stores;)

well, we did discuss her in previous threads , her album is reviewed in "latest music albums" thread, and her BIO is discussed in "a singer every week" thread.

i actually liked her album , although not many have cause she kinda sounds like Bjork!! and not many people like bjork! anyways, her first single "Empires (bring me men)" -which is my favorite off the album- was a #1 hit on the club/dance charts in the U.S (currently #7). but didn't see her on any other charts.

well...i doubt you'll like her style! it's kinda like Macy Gray meets Bjork type of thing!

you can hear "real media" samples from the amazon album page HERE (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00006A6ZO/qid=1034271735/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/102-9498219-7082560?v=glance&n=507846)

I don't think it is very fair for some of you to put a negative judgment on Lamya, before even listening to her album.

Actually, I have to be honest by saying that first I thought that it will not be that good...then I got the album and listen to it. Well for someone who had to learn how to sing on her own, I think the album is rather good!!!

She has a soft, but high pitch kind of voice and maybe not everyone might like it, but the lyrics are good, so the musical background. I particularly like the song dedicated to her mother call "Black Mona Lisa".

She will probably not reach the top yet, but we should give her credit for all her hard work and perseverance over the years which has finally paid off...

Guess what guys...yesterday i went in my town centre and looked for it and yes..finally i found it. Then had a few moments listening to her..she was pretty good for a 1st time singer and I'd agree with x-press. But not really my type..probably b'caz we got use to listen to those top of the pops one's and we just like the best:cool:

Khanjar..we are not talking about if we are proud of her or not, she wanted this destiny for her self and we are talking about how the album is really sound..good or what:gap:

cheers,
MH

I meant an Islamic girl / woman poses in front of people singing almost naked, this is very un-Islamic teaching and not an Omani's culture too. If she does, she does but are we happy of what she is does and applaud.

This message is for Muslim brothers and Sisters, if you are Christian or Atheists you will not understand what I am talking about and therefore no need to respond.

I really do like several of her songs, but I was surprised to see that most of my friends or in-laws actually didn't like her voice at all. They said that she has a high pitch and that her musical style is not appreciate by everybody....hum better not do a concert in Oman then Lamya :sorry:

it's not really her the people don't like. it's the production. the album was produced by one of the weirdest music producers ( Nelly hooper ), who also worked with (Bjork, No doubt, and Madonna). when my sister and brother first listened to "empires" they immedietly linked her to bjork without even knowing that it was the same producer.

i found her album quite fresh, and a good change , cause most music out now sound the same.

I heard one of her songs .. Black Monaliza" its defently amazing.... and i really love her voice she really has it all. Sure her style is different but than again everyone got their own style as well... well done, hope he does and comes up with new songs in the future

I went into the HMV store as a friend of mine called me down there. As she knows I am from oman she asked me you know about the singer "LAMYA" as she is from Oman. I told ehr well sure .. heard of her .. and then she was like: Neena you won;t believe this.. we had like more than 10000 copies of her album and we have run out fo them and we are placing a new order. She took me to the shalfe and showed me that only 2 more cd's left up there.

That shows how much LAMYA is making a huge sucesses, and that ppl are willing to accept her song, and accept her as being a new singer too. Looks all good to me here!!!

Her maternal grand father was the 'wali' (Distric Commisioner) of Mombasa during the British Colonial era. Was 'nighted' Sir -somebody- and had a street named after him. She descend from a family of well to do. Probably qualifies of born with a silver sboon, so 2sbeak.

Omanis by origin but more in westernization by and by for her background to speak of self. I do not know how she compares with Bimzoori.

her single "Empires (Bring me men)" was a #1 Dance hit over there!!

I didn't like her, she is just getting SOME attention here because she is Omani, she didn't get much attention anywhere else.
