Dear X-press,
I'm really impressed by your personality and I'm glad to get to know more about you :-)
I have few questions for you.

1) You are connected with different backgrounds, as I understand, "mixed blood with Caribbean and French parents" and also born and party lived in the States. I would like to know, if you don't mind, the "religion" part of your life. Were you born Muslim or were you a convert?!

2) You are a working mother. Plus, having the responsibility for the Sabla as a Moderator. How do you manage your time between the three? My main concern is, what's your best to give each its fair share of your responsibility as a wife, mother, and an employee?!

3) My last question is, if you would pick a person to be your "role model" in your life, who would that be ?!

Thanks alot, and I wish you great life :color:

ok ladyX i have few questions for u:

u said that u worked 10 years for the same organization.
1. what's ur job?
2. don't u find it boring working in the same environment for such a long time?
3. do u like ur job and why yes/no?
4. what made u convert to islam?? did u read bout it somewhere or was it thorugh a friend??
5. was it hard to adpot to the islamic ways and teachings?
6. which Caribbean island are u originally from?? u said french speaking so my guess would be Aruba, matinique, dominica?? i hope i'm close.
7. having lived in so many different countries how do u find living Oman?? and how do u find Omani ppl (now watch what u say girl)?

that's enough for now but i have more questions to come.

One question I have for you, what was your parents reaction toward you converting to Isalm?

Big MO
12-05-03, 02:42 PM
ok ok ladyX the show continues, more questions since your living a life which many of us consider a fanatsy.

ok i know where u originally come from!!! my best friend is from Barbados so i called and got the info!!!!!
even without the two principles which u're finding hard to adapt i think u're doing extremely well. better than many of us anyways.

u said "It was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492". my question is how can u discover something which has already been there for thousands of years and populated with ppl too. the guy was lost anyways.

8. ok u said all the nice about oman and Omanis, now tell what u would like to be changed in Oman (3 things would do and they shouldn't include "eliminate BigMo and Ice Tea").

9. how many kids do u have?? and what kind of upringing do u teach them. the omani or western way. maybe a bit of both.

The only two things which I had a harder time to get used to was the permanent covering (hijab) and the fact that islam was allowing men to marry up to 4 wives. In comparaison to all the teachings of islam, these two principles were not going to stop me from converting as I felt confortable with the rest

posted by x_press

Now, I am completly used to it and feel very confortable. I am aware that I should wear the veil permanently and I know one day I will be able to do it (inshallah)

when you go to you work or when you go out of ur home for shopping or some thing .. did you wear the veil "hijap"??!! or you u did not wear it except if u want to pray or fast or practice some thing in islam?!

wearing european clothes only

. We are adults and should be able to have the right to choose who we want to marry, no matter the race, the religion or the nationality

islam has conditions we must follow it and practice it and not allows to follow what u like and ignore which you do not like ..

and to marry some one the religion is some thing important to us as we muslim .. like women in islam can not marry any one who not muslim...ect ...
what u 'll say about that !!

but I am not the only one not covering. I do know many Omani ladies who do not do it and 99% of my in-laws young generation is not covering...and they are Omanis, born and raised as muslims by mothers who cover themselves. I suppose when the time is right for them, they will do it.

Again, the new generation in Oman, most young 'modernized' ladies do wear western clothes like dresses, skirts, blouse, trousers...) and you can see them everywhere. Again, all my in-laws do wear only respectable western clothes and will put something arabic mainly if there is a special occasion like a religious reading, a henna wedding or else
i am really wondering... why you should wear "hijab" first ??
ALLAh asking you to wear hijap ..and you are not wearing the hijap bcuz of a lot omanies are not wearing it .. and you not realise that u are refusing commands of ALLAh ...let they do what every they want ..ther is ALLah and ther is his justic ..i am really wondering !!!there is no incamparsion with other people..each one has the right to do what ever he/she wants ... and what happened if omanies girls not wearing it ... omanies did a lot of things bigger than that .. shall all girls follow them ?!!!

To answer your questions, in general I do not wear the veil when I go out, but I do it in certain occasions like during the entire month of Ramadhan, when I pay visit to a sick at the hospital, when I go for a funeral or to give my condolences to someone or when I attend a religious gathering. Of course, I do veil when I perform my daily prayers or when I read the quran. still i could not understood ....when u met ppl cant wear it and when u read quran wearing it .. dont cheat your self sister ... what will u 'll gain if you wearing it out side ..think about it ..i could not imagin that my sister or my mom not wearing the hijab .. and they thinking like you better to be dead than to see them in this situation .... hope ALLah guide us to right path ...
... and ALLAh guide us to right path ..

i know what u meant but i still have a problem with the word discover. i think it's used wrongly.

anyways more questions ladyX:

1. don't u miss the Caribbean?? the sunshine, the beautiful beaches, the laid back way of life. don't u miss all that??

2. silver_ring said

i could not imagin that my sister or my mom not wearing the hijab .. and they thinking like you better to be dead than to see them in this situation
i think it's very rude to say something like that since u have already taken massive strides forward. my question is do u get ppl telling u that all the time?? and how do u deal with it?

3. what do u miss the most about 1. US 2. Caribbean 3. Afirca 4. Oman when u're away

4. what's up with the nick?? is xpress as in fast and quick or is it as in express urself and thoughts?? i think it's a combination of the two.

i think its very rude to put ur nose in some thing not in ur business....my Question was to x press not to you

With respect, if you think that a woman is better dead than to think the way I do, I think you still have a lot to learn about islam, as wishing death for someone is one of the biggest sin you could make. what i mean that to not cover or wearing hijap is some thing very big ,, and women who did not do that means still she hasn't faith in her religion...and she deserve to punish by ALLah...maybe this kind of women dont know that they attractive ppl by their hairstyle and helping satan to perform his duty

I think you still have a lot to learn about islam alhumdullah since i was 9 years old my parents tought me Quran and "fegah" and "al2geeda"(i dont know what they called in english) maybe in one day u 'll watch me in oman tv ;)
