Is there any type of (indoor - Outdoor), rock climbing in Oman?...Just wondered? Mashallah we have lots of mountains around, but is there people who get interested in this type of sport?... :confused: <BR>

I have been to indoor climbing for about 8 months..(not anymore). And its been a fantastic experience..Ya3ni I remember the old days when I was a kid and run around try to climb things, trees...basically anything high! that was fun...Then when I start indoor climbing ...I discovered that it is one of the best things I have ever tried!...<BR>

hmm...I havent asked around in Oman yet...but I can sense that there isnt that much of a sport over here...is it true.... :eek: <BR>

What do you guys/girls think about such sport? Would you like to try it at least once? Would you be going for it if it was avaliable in Oman?....lots of questions....but these are for now...

good u aks about this nice sport..
well for me i climb mountains like kids go up and then coem down..
but as u said there are many mountains with different geaography in oman..
geogrpahist from differnt countaries coem to study dffefrent variety of rocks..
regarding sport, i saw many people specially in some areas in wadi hatat in muscat region , they climb very high mountains..

as us aid there is no much of attention to this kind of sport,, u will find only foriegners,, the resaon behind that is may be the weather and the same reason is applied to other sports like diving, snorkling, camping..

about my experience, oneday we had a journy throgh mountains from wadi kabir till muscat by crossing mountains and we had alot of fun and we took alot of sweet plants which grew only in rainy seasons.

well i have certainly heard of this sport in Europe but i have never heard of it here..which is a bit suprising as we have beautiful mountains and it is a challenging sport..should ask around if they do it here

FaHaD: Seems you had quite an interesting walk around the mountains...I agree with you that such sports dont really appeal locally...and if there was one doing it ...it would be the foreigners visiting...

4-ever-young: I am planning to ask around about it..once i get settled...or else...i'll join a 1 man club...and go climbing :) maybe consider invest in making a indoor climbing building and get the guys to get attached to such sport...

:D hehehe...funny story....yesterday...late nite...I climbed my way from downstairs to upstairs...-obviously without using the stairs-...not the climbing i got on mind..but i guess it would do from time to time..until..i discover another place to climb...:wink:

Are you a spidar man, or shall i call you omani spider:D , just joking, i have been living in Salallah for about 4 years, and i have seen some people do that, including diving center, if you need more information try to call Holidayinn Salallah, tourism section, they might help you. as i said this was before two years, i have no idea by now. but if you need information about diving, i am a diver more than 500 dives in Oman from Musandam to Salallah.

Thx heaps for the information....i am highly considering it....once i can get around it.....regarding diving...i was actually going to start learning in ..but ..didnt get around it...maybe if i couldnt climb up ..i can dive down for a change..:rolleyes:
