I came across this Hadith about snuff or "sa'oot" or "nushooq" in Omani language:
"خـير مـا تداويتــم به الســــــــعوط "
الترمذي
"the best medicine you'll ever be treated with is snuff " Termethi
I did not understand the word "sa'oot" first so I looked it up in the dictionary and found out it to mean snuff, and the meaning of snuff is to sniff dried and ground tobacco leaves which is known locally as "nushooq".
then I surfed the net for the word "sa'oot" mentioned in the Hadith some scholars described it as medicine given through the nose, but no mention about what is that medicine consists of!!!!
then I looked up the benefits of snuff verses smoking tobacco on the net and was surprised to know that tobacco snuff is far more SAFE than smoking and has minimum health risks and many benefits like curing severe head-ache and boost brain power and helps concentration it was used earlier by kings and queens and leaders like Napoleon and scientists and politicians.
then to my greatest surprise and joy I came across another Hadith which proves that "sa'oot" is ground tobacco leaves :
" السعوط أحب إلي من النفخ"
الراوي: الشعبي المحدث: أبو داود
"snuff is lovelier to me than blowing" Abu Dawod
blowing what? Arabs use this word blow "nafkh" for fire or smoke.
so again smoking comes in the Hadith.
this last Hadith is really one of the miracles of the Prophet :PBUH: which proves his Prophecy without a doubt.
so smokers try to switch to snuff, I already did that a couple of days ago and found great joy in it and it's much much better than smoking at least you don't bother anyone else and you can use it almost every where.
PS. you can find it in LULU hypermarket.
