the preachers

have you sat to listen to the tablighi? did you travel with them? are they correct to focus on efforts within ummah instead of dawah outside the ummah?

yes I listened to them I think they have a great mission in our muslim society to convey the main principle of Islam which is to encourage muslims to pray in masjids and to pay Zakat and charity and to perform Haj and read Quran and follow the Islamic teachings on the footsteps of the Prophet peace be upon him and the companions ad the salaf, they are a live reminder for our Ummah to wake up from it's deep sleep and wok for the life after.

I think they are RIGHT to start preaching within the Ummah first because the ummah now is corrupt and as far away from Islam as anyone could imagine.

Allah swt said ذَ*ٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ لَمْ يَكُ مُغَيِّرًا نِّعْمَةً أَنْعَمَهَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُوا مَا بِأَنفُسِهِمْ ۙ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
"Because Allah will never change the grace which He hath bestowed on a people until they change what is in their (own) souls: and verily Allah is He Who heareth and knoweth (all things)." Quran (5:53)

and the Prophet peace be upon him said "لتأمرن بالمعروف ولتنهون عن المنكر، أو ليوشكن الله أن يبعث عليكم عقاباً منه، ثم تدعونه فلا يستجاب لكم"؟
"order people to do good deeds and refrain them from bad deeds or else Allah swt would punish you and will not answer your prayers"

look at our masjids at Fajr prayer you can hardly find one or two rows of prayers where are the rest of muslims?rs" they are deep a sleep under the mercy of their shaytan or devil.

our ummah will never regain it's glory and prosperity and it's victory over their enemies of we let them sleep and not attending the five prayers in masjids.

the Tablighies play a big role in wakening up the muslims and show them the straight path to Allah swt they don't have to be scholars or studied Islam Fiqh o achieve their goal but any ordinary muslim can be a preacher within his society or neighbourhood he can start with his family then expand to his next door neighbours then when e is satisfied he can join the preachers to work in other neighbourhoods.

Allah swt said

ادْعُ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ ۖ وَجَادِلْهُم بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِ ۖ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ
{Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance.} Quran(16:125)

the main character a preacher must posses is DIPLOMACY and PATIENCE and that what he will be taught by older preachers who have experience in this field.

I call upon every muslim to be a preacher or tablighi and help his fellow muslims in any way in his own society and be a raw model of a true muslim on the outside and on the inside.

forgive me i didnt respond sooner. i was waiting if someone with more knowledge of the people known as tabligh would answer you. i will try to answer based on what i was told by members of tablighi jama'at inshaAllah.

the founder of the movement was from indian subcontinent. he was motivated to form a revival movement when he found youth were abandoning some of the aspect of the sunnah Muhammad (saws) which he felt were important and valuable tools or symbols of islam. under his influence a collection of method were created to bring youth back to the masjid and to practice the sunnah. a strong emphasis is placed not only of refocusing on sunnah and masjid but in inviting other muslims to do the same.

in fact some of the tablighi stress that the act of inviting is more important than the act of gaining religious knowledge. i am not certain if this is the emphasis of the founder of the movement.

the movement is not political at all. in fact discussing politics is disliked. the movement is not aligned officially with any madhhab although sunni hanafi is predominant. the movement has grown to a massive size in countries around the world. they have an annual international convention in bengladesh which is the largest religious meeting in the world after hajj.

the basic rules are to invite others to travel to a neighbouring community, city or country for four days, fourty days, 4 months etc... and to use that time encouraging others to join in extending similar efforts and invitation. you might call it islamic evangelical movement.

right, khurooj. so what do you think, efforts of khurooj (going out for the sake of ALLAH) to promote islamic revival should be only within muslim community or should the tablighi jama'at address primarily non muslim? I look at our prophet (saws) and his trusted companions who used to speak to non-muslims. while tablighi seem to have a policy to make effort only at inviting muslim (who are converting the already converted)

I believe that those ppl who do that for the sake of talking about the Islam religion, it should not only include the Muslim’s I so believe that even the Non-Muslim’s could be talked to.
You never know who is out there that such a talk would lead him/her to the right path, and it could be a reason for them to enter Islam.
It is a good reminder for the Muslim ppl as to all what is happening in the word now, and all the human crises, which as well involve terrorism, and ppl killing one another, and Islam being understood wrong, yes, its for sure a good movement from these ppl to go to all the countries they can, and they should not only concentrate on the Muslim’s, NON-Muslims should be invited as well
