I was wondering, too.
But i got the answer and was satisfied.
Well, they call it hijab, because it prevents the viewers.
Tha aim of this is the maintenance of Muslim women & the preservation of chastity and purity .
Hope you got it.

How can a veil 'prevent' a woman to lose her chastity ? lol

Too bad this kinda doesn't work in the Gulf anymore, to be honest I never saw more flirting than our countries! We are the number 1 flirting people in the world! :S And sick flirting!

The hijab won't prevent flirting. It is simply a physical not a psychological barrier for wanting to get extra attention. If a woman wants to flirt she will find a way and if a man wants to get to know a woman in hijab he too will find a way.

Because its a must in Islam?
I'll force my daughters to wear inshallah.

I honestly think girls look hotter with hijab hehe.

Forcing isn't going to make them wear it, trust me.
I hate the fact that my father is forcing me and it's through my mom!

It's not like I wont wear it, but I do think I will in due time.

Other than that, I honestly don't know why it's forced. To cover the woman's hair is something far of making her not revile her body (Not wear tight cloths). Hejab is something I don't really get.

Yeah, but what if you never had a chance too? tara you never know when you'll die la?

Anyways i know that if she doesnt want to she wont wear (my daughter :P) bs forcing her might make her realise that its important :)

I'm not saying I'm going to wear it after I'm 50 or something, maybe High school? Or sometime around it. I don't know.

You can talk to her about it, make her realize how important it is in our religion. But, never talk to her as if you're implying that she has to wear it or else. Compromising, and managing to talk to her about it in a calm way will open her eyes and see how okay it is to wear it and how she'll get used to it by time.

Simple question. Just wondering why.

The question should be something like "why Islam made wearing the Hijab mandatory for Muslim women"?

You can deduce the answer from the following Quran verses:

[31] And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things) And protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer palms of hands or one eye or dress like veil, gloves, head-cover, apron, etc.), and to draw their veils all over Juyubihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband's fathers, or their sons, or their husband's sons, or their brothers or their brother's sons, or their sister's sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islâm), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigor, or small children who have no sense of feminine sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allâh to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful.

O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad): that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Very true marianna !

**************************

Parent shouldn’t force hijab on their daughters cause it will not work ! It should be by convince that hijab is protecting her and it is part of her Islam and that she is getting more benefit with hijab than without it

In Islam view, women been forced to wear were men
prohibited to see even a piece of her hair,

I dont want to be hipokrit here, I'm muslim and just not me to wear yet, its a individual choices, doesn't mean wearing hijab you dont look pretty,
But , I dissagree by forcing ! because its just not you! and you must be pleased what you want!

I guess all of your points are true.

As my mom told me when you get used to hijab, you will never feel comfortable when u got out with out wearing it.
