I don't know if you have noticed that whenever you go to a shop in Oman to buy a merchandise and even on your receipt the following would be written:
"Items sold will not be refunded or exchanged" .... do you think such a statement influences the customers interest in purchasing..
whereas when you go to a develped country you will find signs like: " the customer is always right!" and things like "you can get a full refund when returning a purchased item within a month"

Do you think shifting to such consumer friendly messages would help boost our economy?

I have noticed this kind of messages, but in my opinion small shops are only using this kind of messages to get profits and protect themselv's. But for big shops or in other words big items and known models u will not find this kind of messages as the garantee will play part in this process, so u can still return your item if u find something wrong with it.

Aother reason that such shops are using this kind of messages, that the demand is low, but if for example the demand is high and many customers are visiting the shop then for sure this kind of messages will disapear and will be without any value.

Thank you for your comment IceTea! But I have to disagree with you "that only small shops" have this type of message! I have been to big centres i.e. Khamis Plaza, Al3raimi and others they all have the same principle!

I think that the demand will increase even in small shops if they didn't have such "putting off" messages!

And if shops do accept an exchange (very rare) then it would be at the discretion of the owner and it would be like "he did you a favour" rather than being your "customer rights"!!
