Her name is Wendy and she is a 4 month old Cairn Terrier I bought from a rescue group. Hilarious little dog who has already brought much smiles to my household:

She is my first dog I personally owned. I also have 2 cats and they are eyeing her with that world renown cat detachment...except when she gets too close and Simba (my Himalayan) bats her on top of the head with one of his fat furry claws.

So, tell me Sablans...what kind of pets do you have and what do you like most about them? Are they funny? Mischievous? Energetic?

what i like of my cat is that they keep remind the life is too simple and no need for complications. i believe we have 10 cats outside by which i had to wash one of them yesterday.

My pets give me entertainment and lots of affection. Sometimes I think they understand life better than we do because of how we soooo complicate things.

Sounds silly but honestly....sometimes we need to relax and just enjoy the moment.

I never liked animals, especially dogs. They scare me. I never had a pet and never will!

Wendy is going through the teething stage and tries to nibble on fingers but I am firm and tell her no. She has to know who is boss and that is the thing with animals. Do not abuse them but let them know that you are the master.

Yes. The dog I bought was rescued from a Kennel and I simply paid for the shots and for her to be spayed. The rescue shelter I went to in downtown Saint Louis specializes in purebred puppies who were taken from bad conditions. Wendy came at around 10 weeks of age to the shelter and she is very well-adjusted. This breed of terrier are known to be super-friendly and intelligent. A bit stubborn but so am I and she will be trained properly. Right now she is in her crate being a good girl, not whining or barking. I will spoil her but will also have a firm consistent hand.

Best I've found to get them to behave is to wear that @ss out!

Take them for walks ... retrieve a ball whatever.

And yes ... make her sleep in her own space. She will feel protected.

Cookie loves her house (http://www.allpetfurniture.com/Dynamic-Accents-42166-DYA1041.html?cv=0) and it fits in with furniture.

Thanks guys for the well-wishes....Simba is larger than Wendy but she will grow to be about 13 pounds. If you ever get to see the American Movie, Wizard of Oz, the dog Toto is Wendy's breed. Luna, my other cat simply sees the dog as an oddity. Wendy came with that name. I was going to name her Layla after the poem but since she responds to Wendy keeping it at that. I just love the name Layla and if I had another child that would be her name. The name simply sounds so poetic to me. I ended up with insomnia, worried that Wendy would have a hard night (i.e. crying, barking whining) but she was perfect. I put a towel in her crate that has my smell with some toys and she was quiet the whole time. Simba however was crying outside my bedroom door (sigh) so I let him in and he actually GROWLED at me. He is jealous. I let him in and he started doing these weird meow growls and I had to reassure him he's still a mama's boy.

Playing with one of the cat's toys...I think it is "officially" her's now lol:

Congraatz on your dog Marianna :cute:

I'm not much of a dog person because taking care of them is way harder than cats plus they're too slobbery.

Cat person all the way :D

Such a cutie.

I had two rabbits, two birds, and fish. Before they all died. I might sound mean, but I was much younger then!

Dogs are just adorable. I might consider having one of my own.

Wendy actually does not slobber (thank GOD) but there are breeds which do think: Saint Bernard....they are the slob masters.

I have been around dogs since forever and after raising a child dogs are a breeze lol.

I wish I can have a dog, if I ever did I'll get a german shepherd, they look cute when they're young and cool when they get bigger.

I had a lot of pets.... Cats, Birds, Turtles, Mice, Rabbits, hamsters, Fish and a Hedgehog once too :p

She is very very affectionate. Potty training is a chore but I have patience. She will give me a lifetime of unconditional love which is something I crave.
