Imaam Muslim narrated in his Saheeh from Abu Hurayrah may Allah be pleased with him, the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him, he said: "Islam began as something strange and will return to be something strange as it began, so (Touba) blessing to the strangers" [1] (ratified by the Messenger of Allah).

I find this hadith quite interesting.
Do you find it becoming true everyday, or do you think that Islam is still well known and properly practised?
Any other thoughts?

It's weird, because Islam is still well-known.
I have a thought, why are some people Muslims while they are not following Islam!? :o There are a lot of such people, even here on ES. :dev:

Perhaps it is from a practice prospective. There are millions of muslims, however is the trend that more and more are practicing it more or the other way around and losing touch with their religion.
I understand from the hadith that islam started as a stranger, something new then it became very well known and practised and then it will become again a stranger and less practised.

well adding to my previous post, I think that for now its good, but it started to disappear. and it will continue if people don't concentrate more on the religion
Probably, and the strangers are those who will feel strange to continue practicing their religion but still do it.
This is what I feel developing..
" طوبى لهؤلاء المُتمسكين بحبله، المُتشبثين بذيله، المُتعلقين بأهدابه، الذين لا يُفرطون في دينهم، ويقبضون عليه وإن كان قبضا على الجمر."
Those who will keep their faith in grip like gripping firebrand.
what is strange?
i find that it will be something strange to those who dont want to follow any religion or believe in anything
^There's a lot of that now, they aren't strange.
Exactly this is what's happening now. If someone is trying to be a good muslim everyone will look at him/her as an extremist, close minded backward person. And I mean by everyone the people who're the opposite. Islam started as ubnormal to others and now it's becoming ubnormal to some. As buthy said and qouted the hadith, it's very difficult to be a good muslim in this current world. It's too difficult that if someone made it, it would be like a miracle and that's why prophet Mohammed :PBUH: predicted this and complimented those who will stand still against the worldy temptations. Allah leads us all to the right path and open our hearts and eyes to the truth. Amen.

To me a good Muslim is not just the one who prays and knows Quran. Proper practice of Islam does not mean that you wear Islamic clothing and you know surahs and you pray. It also means being good to people, helping others and being merciful on people. If you can help a person it is great, if not and it is not in your capacity at least a good word or dua for them may do.

Ya heeee ma3a hal Khalid Yassin (tired of Khalid Yassin)
I'm not sure what the prophet meant here, but I do not believe he is talking about those people who are religious to the extreme, I was in their shoes and though it IS a lot of hard work, it's not Islamic at all.
