Writing with your left is not favorable

Well, a couple of days back, in a class discussion, our Islamic teacher told us that it's not favorable to write with the left hand because the Prophet (MPBAH) said that we have to do all the good things with our right hand - or something like that-

What do you think?
11% of the world write with their left hand, does this mean that they're doing the wrong thing?
Isn't the reason for writing with the left or right hand has to do with something in how the brain functions?
What will those who have been writing with their left hand their entire life do??

I don't believe in what she said, because it doesn't really make sense to me. A person can't control such things, it's not in their hands.

maybe she was speaking about the hadith on the left hand being the one used by the devil
But I don't think she said lefthanded are bad
One must try to switch, if not possible then it can be left like that

I'm left-handed.
My teacher tried switching me from left to right when I was in elementary school.
I ended up not being able to write with either for a period of time.

writing with left hand is okay people can't help it, but what about eating with left hand, this is the haram because the Hadith states that the Devil eats with his left hand so Muslims are forbidden to eat with their left hand.

the same applies to giving and taking things with left hand it's "makrouh" not favourable to do so because usually Muslims use their left hand for dirty jobs like cleaning the "owrah" IE the private parts of the body.

Our Prophet peace be upon him likes to use the right in everything even when walking he would walk on the right hand side of the road when he makes "wudu'a" abolutuion he starts with the right when he wear his shoes he wears the right first when he wears his clothes he starts with the right hand also when he enters the mosque or going out from bathroom he uses his right leg first.

come on Muslims revive the forgotten sunnah of the Prophet peace be upon him brush your teeth using the right jaw first wear your sunglasses by opening the right flap first wear your watches in your right arms etc etc etc may Allah swt grant us paradise and be of the righteous people "ashabu alyameen wa ma ashabu alyameen"

this hadith apply over things that we have control on it. Islam is more simple and many 3ulama writing with their left hand. even Maradone had scored with left leg.

My parents gave up on asking me to eat with my right hand, It's only my cousins/relatives that still ask me to switch hands while I'm eating.. So I do.. Only seconds later I switch back to my left without even realizing it.

well I used to face this problem when i was a kid ... mom used to hit me when i ate with left :XD: if im eating with my hands i use my right hand while when im eating with fork or spoon :p

Back when I was a kid Mom tried a lot with me to fix that.. Now I kinda can eat with my right hand, but I can't handle a spoon/fork nor write with it.

I know that it's favorable to use right hand, but I read a lot about it and learned that as long as the person is not capable of changing that, it's not considered a sin.

yeah... I've been told the same once. Was like :o wth is this for...

whereas it could be an evidence that Islam isn't free of superstitions... it makes you think what other thing could be a reason behind such a ruling.

could it be that all 'weirdos' and those acting differently than the majority should be expelled from the community?

or is it all about lack of water and soap in the Ancient Arabia that made one use one hand for "clean" purposes and the other for the "dirty" ones?

the last option seems quite valid. but these days, people don't have these hygienic problems anymore. however, the ruling still exists. isn't it about time it's made obsolete?
