What ever is going on with Our Schools?
Reading the statistics on the new academic year published by “Times of Oman” on the September 2, 2000 (table below) the following is observed:
 The Average number of students per school is 553
 The average number of students per teacher is 21
 The average number of students per school (basic education) is 138.
 The statistics did not reveal what is the average number of students per teacher at the basic education.
The numbers suggest that the capacity of our schools can be increased. The average utilization per teacher seems to be low: 21 per teacher. Further more, the average number of students per school in the new curriculum that is basic education is very low: 138 per school.

Until the third week since the commencement of the academic year not only students at some schools not only lacked both teachers and textbooks, but construction on the school building was still going on. While some other schools, until the fourth week some textbooks were still lacking. What ever is going on with our schools?

Plain Truth:

Don't be decieved by this fuzzy math. You got to consider that most of the omani citizens are scattered all arround the country.

People in remote areas need schools, teachers and textbooks. The Government wants to provide all omanis with their basic needs of health and education even if they live in a small number of people in a far rure area.

Where you can find a class of 5 to 10 students in "Jazeerat Mussaira", you can also find a class of 35 to 45 students in some schools in Muscat.

After all, your statistics show averages only. It would be more clearer if those averages were per regions.

i am just wondering if the statistics took in mind the number of students per class per region! i think that is something they should really concider, and i think they should see how many failures they have each year, now thats something to look forward to know and decrease.
