is what they are calling it. The Washington area is getting buried by absolute tons of snow. It will probably be a historic record...never so much snow here before.

These were taken a couple of hours ago...and it's been snowing and snowing ever since with no end in sight:

Neat pictures Jeff. Yeah, heard on CNN about what is going on over there. I know my home state of Indiana got some. Missouri didn't get that much. We rarely do unless the storm is coming in from Kansas City. Do post more pictures when you can and I hope you have a generator in case the power goes out! :(

Beautiful weather!:D Same here, this winter is awfully snowy, was a bit of a problem only at first though..(in November) Now we got used to it :D:D 1,5meter-tall heaps of snow are amazing!

Okay, Russia wins! :p I am too snug and warm inside to go outside and get a snowball.

But I get the message: "Yawn! That's winter. Whaddaya want?"

After a couple of days, people have beaten paths through the high snow so they can go where they want to. It looks like this:

If you stand in that path or groove, the snow on the sides is between your knees and your hips, depending on how tall you are.

Snow plows work around the clock to clear roads and private companies hire snowplows to clear their parking lots. And they build up gigantic snow mountains along the sides and especially at the corners. Like this:

And guess what's happening outside now? It's SNOWING!!! :p

We are looking at probably more than a foot tonight and tomorrow morning.

We've had three snows on top of each other so far--

The schools have given up.

School was closed on Monday and Tuesday. And today the announcement came:

No school Wednesday.

No school Thursday.

No school Friday.

And Monday is already a holiday! :D

We got about half a foot and sigh...went to work today. Our roads are bone dry now but damn salt on the car.

Looks like Snowmageddon's one-two punch may finally be over. Phew!

Knock on wood man. Send some of that snow my way. I need a vacation. Oh wait...I have a three day holiday weekend since Monday is a federal holiday.

On the flip side some federal websites based out of D.C. i.e. USAJOBS and some intranet sites we use at work are down because of the snow. Go figure!

There was a 50 car pileup in Virginia....biggest crash site in some time for some firefighteres careers. Link has some video:
