View Full Version : Similarities in the Major Religions?
I notice a lot of different views and opinions within all the major religions, that cause a lot of suffering and hate.......
However most will agree upon some basic beliefs, such as:
1. one God
2. compassion
3. tolerance towards others
4. helping the poor
5. killing is bad
6. equality
I wonder if there is enough attention paid to the similarities amongest peoples instead of all the differences.
And are the differences really so different?
Wouldn't it be silly to say ones own language, say English or Arabic or Chinese is superior to anothers?
Wouldn't it be nice to just see religion like language, where all people's have different way to speak........but the function is the same.....
Don't all people really know God in their own way from their own culture?
Why is that so hard for people to see?
Anyway some thoughts for the day.......
Salam/Shalom/Peace
I think most people love peace, but feel threatened by others who are different...
It's a small world.....
Cheers

It’s a beautiful thread you have initiated. Congratulation. Let every one participate to the thread. He has raise the basic question. There are so common values in every religion. But why so hate red, confusion, intolerance & hostility? Who is misleading the civilization and why?
Regards.

I agree that most religions share these core beliefs (although the one god concept is pretty new and still not universal), and that tolerance for the variations in practice of these concepts would make for a better world all around.
I've always thought that wars to impose particulars of religious practice were among the worst excuse for violence - and frequently ARE only an excuse to cover up baser desires for land, wealth, power, etc.
We see it even today.
