View Full Version : Is it so difficult to pray 5 times a day?!!

I have been thinking about this issue since the morning..why is it that some people are so neglectful of the five daily prayers..why is it soo difficult for some people to dedicate several minutes per day out of the 24hours that we have for the sake of their Lord, their Cherisher, their Sustainer?!

How do you expect yourself to pass your school exams if you dont attend the classes?? Similarly, how do you expect yourself to succeed in this world and in the Hereafter, if you dont perform the obligatory prayers?!

Do you really find it difficult?? we are asked to pray only five times a day..I dont think its much..is it? After all, it is Allah who has granted us our lives..it is He Who has granted us the strength to go on in this world...Shouldnt we, at the very least, thank Him for all that He has given us?

One thing to remember is that Allah doesnt need our prayers..it is us who need to pray..Allah is rich, we are poor..Allah is strong, we are weak..

These are just some thought that came to my mind..I shall post later some more points regarding Prayers..

Assalm-o-Alaikum,
Introduction is appealing but describe the use, importance and utility of Salat (Prayer) based on logic. That will be a real work.
Let Allah help you.

Again and again, I keep asking myself..why are there people out there who dont pray?!

is it because they dont have time? if so, why then do they have plenty of time to watch TV, to spend some time with their friends, to eat and drink? why do 5 minutes for the sake of God seem alot?

It is amazing to see how many people convert to Islam because of our prayers, and very sad that many Muslims dont pay much attention to it..Last year, as I was praying in the university's prayer room an American lady approached and started staring at us as we were praying until we were done...after that, she came to us and said, "Those are the most amazing five minutes I have spent in my life..it is just amazing to see how you bow and your foreheads touch the ground in humility for God", she then asked for a copy of the Quran...

Out of the many verses in the Quran that adress the issue of prayers, I would like to post the following verse as a reminder..

" And establish regular prayers at the two ends of the day and at the approaches of the night: For those things that are good remove those that are evil: Be that the word of remembrance to those who remember (their Lord)" [11:114]

Dear Bimzoori,
A/S.
In my consideration this is the best topic on sabla forum which you have initiated. Please do not go for the metaphorical expression. Though salt is one of the pillar of Islam but most important. Why one should offer his/her prayer? Please explain it in a simple language and put the logical explanation. Describe the utility(Fazilat). That will be big work please.
Regards.

i asked a few friends of mine who don't pray the same question, i mean..they sometime stay up all night till like 6 am but still don't pray the morning prayers!! let alone the other 4!! they say that the only thing that keeps them from doing that is the (washing) part (dun know what the correct term is in english..sorry)! :)

anyways..they say that they're too lazy to wash up for every prayer, and therfore they don't do it!

If washing (Aaju)is a problem to them, ask them to offer salat without washing. Let them start and they will do it themselves.

Prayer: A Unique Spiritual Experience

Praying is a unique spiritual experience where every muscle of the body joins the soul and the mind in the worship and glorification of Allah. Prayers make us stand before God in humulity, exhalting Him and invoking Him.

Though it is difficult to say in words the full meaning of the Islamic paryers, it can be said that it is:

A lesson in discipline and will power.

A practice in devotion to God and all worthy objectives.

A vigilant reminder of God and constant revelation f His Goodness.

A seed of spiritual cultivation and moral soundness.

A guide to the most upright way of life.

A safe guard against indecencey and evil, against wrong deviation and stray , for it says in the Quran "Observe prayer. Surely, prayer restrains [one] from indecencey and manifest evil" [29:45]

A demonstartion of true equality, solid unity, and brotherhood

An expression of thankfulness to God and appreciation of Him.

A course of inner stability and peace.

An abundant source of patience and courage Indeed, as it says in the Quran "And seek help in patience and Prayer" [2:45]

In general, when Muslims observe it regularly, they develop a strong desire to do righteuos deeds, anticipating Allah's reward. When they perform it in congregation, they establish strong social relationships with others and they strengthen tehir brotherly ties with such qualities as love, tenderness, respect and co-operation

Inspired from the books " A Glimpse at the beauty of Islam" and "Islam in Focus"

Are you angry with the Shiites for only praying 3 times a day?

Are they lazy or misguided?

... or is 3 times enough ?

Good topic, I would like to mention that originally the prayer was 50 times a day when profet Mohammed (PBUH) got the instructions fro Allah to start this piller during "al miraag" trip to the above skys. And Profet Mohammed met profet Mosas (PBU them) and told him go back to your God and ask him to reduce it, cuz your people can't handle it. And still profet mohammed was between Allah and profet Mosas (who was telling him every time go back to your God and ask him to reduce it) until it became to 5 prayers per day and night and each 1 is equal to 10.

So poeple still feel lazy to pray 5 times a day, I wonder what we will do it was 50 times a day !!!

logic is used here.i like it very much.

also if they can not pray in 5 times they can do it in 3 times.
those people who do not pray at all, they better pray at least one pray a day.but do pray,i am feeling sorry for those who do not pray since looooooooooooooong time.

Dear AP,
If you continue the thread under the banner of “Is it so difficult to pray 5 times a day?!!” may create controversy. If some one desires to evaluate your question from negative side, surely there will be confusion and debate. May I request you to change the banner head or stop the thread.
