We're all susceptible to the effects of modern living, whether we're sports people, career professionals, homemakers or students; whether we're fifteen or fifty; whether we're male or female!

I found a little book with me about "taking care of ones' self" and thought of sharing some of its valuable tips with you. (Name of book: Take care of yourself, by Penelope Sach)

To start the day!

To cleanse the inner body before a busy day, squeeze a quarter of a fresh lemon in a glass of warm water and add a teaspoon of honey. It works wonders!

Another tip for today,

:D Learn to Laugh :D

Laughing helps relieve depression, pain and axiety. It stimulates yet it relaxes, it gives every organ in the body a good work-out, and it's fun. Laughing has ever been known to improve the condition of people suffering from high blood pressure. Learn to laugh heartily every day! :D:D:D

hi silent tune just want to say more about laughing...
difference between laughter and humor
Laughter is the physiological response to humor. ...laughter consists of two parts -- a set of gestures and the production of a sound. When we laugh, the brain pressures us to conduct both those activities simultaneously. When we laugh heartily, changes occur in many parts of the body even the arm , leg and the trunk muscles....

there is a nice pathway in the central brain system discocered by behavioural neurologist specifically laughter or humor researcher... they called the sonic structure of laughter..

emmm why laughing
i searched for this and scientist found that laughing is a way to supress the fight and flight system in the body , i.e,the stress system( sypathetic nervous system)...
and they call laughing as a social signal for interaction and connetcion....
by the way the science which studies about the physiology of laughter is called gelotology u can search about it in the net...

effect of laughing on health...
actually it will be very long..... i won't discuss it in details..

- it decreases the effect of stress hormones: thus decreases the blood pressure and prevent arteries blockage..
- it also cause increase in fghting viruses and tumor cells: scientist found that laughing causes increase in gamma-interferon, B-cells, T-cells..

- clear respiratory tract: cause it lead to coiughing and hiccup plus it increases Ig-A ( one of teh antiodies in the body)

- it strengthen ur respiratory muscles, leg , facial, back muscles...

wooooow that was very long... sorry i just came from my exam....

Thanks alot FaHad,

We should keep laughing all the time, but can we? we can try our best though!

Another tip for today I mean for life ( Enjoy your life )

When we push ourselves to enjoy life, our food metabolises better, our blood circulates more freely and we have a greater drive to feel and look great :)

Life has its ups and downs but finally it has this sweet taste that we can taste through the obstacles we go through. Remember this saying : 'life is never one sweet song".

I will add another one that i find very true :

What you eat is how you'll feel

Be aware that what you eat today will affect how you feel tomorrow. Every time you choose to eat healthy - or 'bad' - foods, you're affecting the levels of energy and vitality you have in reserve for the next day.

(seems I have eaten something wrong yesterday)

but during study time, i hardly do any excercise and my foood always be the same.. and as a result i feeel so lazy sometime...

life is never one sweet song... like the seasons which lkeep changing .. so u must place ur self somewhere...

Can't sleep?!

A lot of people face this problem, let me see if i can help here with one of my tips :

If you are having trouble sleeping, avoid caffeine and try drinking a tea (or taking a tablet) made from passionflower and vervain. Taking a calcium supplement or a velarian tablet just before you go to bed may also help.

Another useful tip for this time of the year (I guess i am getting you bored with my tips :p)

Good health for a good holiday!

Prior to that well-deserved and long-awaited holiday, try to detoxify your system by not overeating, and including lots of fresh vegetables and juices in your daily diet. Then go ahead and enjoy yourself :)

ST excellent thread, I'm really enjoying it.
I just want to add that exercising and laughing produce endorphins which makes you feel good.
To me exercising is a must, and it always makes me feel better whenever I feel bad or derpressed, and it's a good way to relieve stress. It makes you feel good from the inside and the outside.

well about sleeping , milk and rce contain a substance calle tryptophan which in the body becomes serotonin ( 5-hydroxy tryptophan) and this agent cause u sleep.... thus when u have lecturs after the lunch pls don't take rice....:D
