Well, I did loooong time back an assignment about Hypnosis, it was really an intresting one.
let us discuss differnt issues related to this phenomona.
Is it true that whena perosn is hypnosised he could be asked to do anything the one hypnostised him asked? exp: he could be asked to commit crimes?!!!
Let me define first hypnosis,
Actually if I tell u its definition in books it will be difficult to understand.. but I will try my best to simplify it..
hypnosis is a method to cause gross alteration of conscious sensory perception… is it difficult Laa..
much simpler, the brain has some parts which are specialized for receiving sensory stimuli( touch, taste, hearing..etc) , but then it connects or links each sensation to a specific emotion , like u feel happy when u see or taste a chocolate unlike when u see or taste an onion …… and hypnosis causes shifts in this perceptions… like it makes u happy when u see an onion ( this is my book example , so don't laugh pls :D )
trace state, people under hypnosis are said to be in a trance state.. whci might be light, medium or heavy(deep).
light trance, there are changes in motor activities, muscle can feel relaxed , and parethasia ( altered sensation) can be induced.
medium trance , diminished pain sensation and partial or complete amnesia.
deep trance, here the person is in deep anesthesia…
after hypnosis, they say they give a suggestion for the person . in which he is instructed to perform a simple act or experience a particular sensation after awakening from trance state ( in simple words, giving him an alternative perception of a particular sensation)…. This suggestion may cause a person to perceive a bad taste to cigarettes or a particular food and thus can aid in treating nicotine dependence or obesity ……. Usually these suggestion given for those who were in deep trance state…………………
so arbprnces, after hypnosis the individual perception to his environment can be changed...

Thanx Fahad, wow you gave it in a very medical termings but thats great.
Well, What I meant is that can a person be asked to do something aginst his will? well actually I kinda know the answer :p
NO, when a person is hypnotised he is aware of what he is going to do. FOr example, hynosis cant be used to reveal a persons secret if he is not willing from the beginning to do so (or thats what I know, I might be wrong)
Hypnosis is a very wide area, sometimes we can hypnotised our self to be happy, study extra time stay awake and so on. I tried the technique but I guess it was hard to hypnotise my self :)
lets hear more from those who know more about hypnosis.
for revealing someone secrets there is another method called psychoanalysis whci works very nicely..
arby i said that hypnosis is a method of changing someone perception to his environment or need... so it can change his all thinkings..
i read about the use of hypnosis, but that book that i have it is difficult to understand,, i will try to read it again and afgain or read from different books and if i understand them i will post the idications(use ) of hypnosis...
for those who are intrested in self hypnosis , i found this site which can help,, http://www.selfhypnosis.com/
