FaHaD 28-06-02, 11:13 PM problems in smell can be one of the following: Anosmia- Inability to detect odors( smelling substance) Hyposmia - Decreased ability to detect odors Dysosmia - Distorted detection of smell , whci can be one of the following: -Cacosmia - Inappropriate detection of a normal smell as foul or unpleasant -Parosmia - Perversion of sense of smell -Heterosmia - Inability to distinguish between certain odors -Agnosia - Inability to classify or contrast odors, although able to detect odors Hyperosmia - Increased sensitivity to some or all odorants… if u want to know about the causes of smell abnormailities, u have to know about anatomy of the olfactory nerve which detect the smell and send information to the brain.. so any problem in the nerve formation (embryologically), structure, function.. also any problem in the tract which the nerve passes like the bone..( miss naughty maybe ur relative had a truama in the bone where the nerve crosses) I don’t want to mention all the causes but u can check them in the following site: disorder of smell and taste (http://www.emedicine.com/ent/topic333.htm) amo0or 29-06-02, 03:27 AM Ok..now i wanna ask something..
