do you think we should have more than just two english radio station?! i was in my car and i got fed changing between these two (oman english fm & HiFm) to find a reasonable song to listen to..
i mean, america probably has maybe over 50 stations that are only for music, and dubai has like 5 or 6!!
We also have Arabic FM.. Like Wisal and something else. :p
I doubt if there were even more channels that I'd tune in and listen. Because I am about 80% sure that it wouldn't meet my taste in music.
patience young man patience, remember a couple of years ago we used to have one only, along with two Arabic FMs
look now, we have wisal FM and Hi Fm, and dunno wat else
our Radio is improving by time
so all you got to do is wait, with time more English maybe Indian or France (For Nico) Fm channels will come :D

Every night before you sleep, download a podcast of your choice, put in on your ipod, and listen to in the car.
If you want a wide range of FM, buy a satellite device thingy that makes listen to the whole gulf's radio station
Dude. Get yourself an iPod and lemme pimp u up with the latest songs. Don't rely on those two Radio stations, cuz they suck ***.
Hehe. I've never been a fan. I don't think I'll ever will be one.

A third English FM station is coming soon. It's going to be the sister station of Wisal FM.

America my friend, America.
Its better to just get the best music you like and put them in an Ipod or an MP3 player and play it in your car. Meanwhile you can still listen to those two if you like radios. They are still good.
Nothing's wrong two stations...There are many to get good music which is not the radio.
I'm okay with the number, I just hate it that when we go to the interior we can't listen to any of them. It's to far for their range.
^ Yeah, I heard about that.
They should increase the range to fit in all of Oman really. So that even on the way to an interior place, you don't have a problem listening to the radio and you just be able to listen to it when you reach your destination where this the residential area. Its not fair.

I think even just 2 radio stations is more than enough.. looking at the ratings that a friend of mine showed me based on a research they conducted... sometimes less than 500 people are listening to the radio at a time!!
when u talk about America.... There are people in America like Howard Stern who makes more than 100 million dollars per year!! Thats what he gets paid.. it is the budget of TV+radio in Oman for 20 years!! There they have advertisers paying for people who are tuning up to listen to the radio... like Howard's radio channel is subscribed by 20 million people... YES TWENTY MILLION people!!
so there u go: think about cost-effectiveness.. think about impressionability.. think of BUSINESS.
America has 50 states, each state is probably bigger than Oman. So you cannot compare the 2.
We are still developing, wait..

how do u want more radio stations when people here are complaining about how bad the songs are,, nd bla bla bla !!!
U think anyone would care if they did more stations? We have 2 n people are really complaining,, u want 10 more?
lol, if they did more stations it would be their loss since no one really cares, plus those lifeless people would start making fun and complain more, LOL

Who needs fm? That's so 1980s We have CDs and iPods now.
Yeah, but some people just like to listen to the talk shows in between.
I find them boring at times really.
Honestly, I would say quality and not quantity. If they improve both our english stations then we really wouldn't need 10 more!
I think Hi Fm has been making more of an effort in comparison to 90.4 they have different programs at different times of the day and they have competitions and prizes and what not. Their music is also newer than 90.4 however a big downside is that they don't broadcast as far as Dhofar!
They just need to stick to newer music and less adverts and then the English Omani Fm would achiever quality.

hey, america has only about 7 or 8 fm radio stations per city too, cuz if you have too many signals going from too many stations, it can cause trouble, as well as there being the issue of the coverage over a wide area. as for the complaining, 2 english stations are more than enough, we as omanis are becoming to westernized...wth do all of you keep on complaining "oh i wish i had this new mall over here", "i wish we had another burger king..", or whatever, just remember what your parents had when they were growing up.. it's just so annoying, WTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

I have no say in this anymore. Frankly, I don't care.
It's enough, not many people listen to English radio and the more we have the more some will lose, shut down.

One-third of the people here (including foreigners) listen to English radios. Two-thirds listen to Arabic & other. So yeah, that many people listen to English radio.
I won't complain, the two radio stations aren't that bad.. besides if you want updated music, get an Ipod and an AUX cable =p
You should know the stations that work in the interior are only Arabic. And that the number of people living in Muscat isn't the same as the 270 million living in the US.

^True:

I don't think the original interior people enjoy English music in the first place, but that would suck if we wanted to have a roadtrip and all of a sudden the iPod's battery is out. And there's no radio to listen to, we are going to die :boo:
yah and don't forget to add THEY BOTH SUCK :yuk:

yeah, so what if the u.s. has a gazillion cities, it's not like if you live in seattle you can get a radio signal from chicago :XD:. and btw, in america they have a specific number of stations for a reason (eg, 1 station for pop, 1 station for r&b, 1 station for country, 1 for rap...etc.) so it's not like if you have 60 stations in one city (which isn't even possible) then you are a better city cuz half of the stations will be playing the same songs....
A third English FM station is coming soon. It's going to be the sister station of Wisal FM.
that's good news! thanks!
I like HiFM, sounds much more professional than 90.4 (whatever it's called)
unnecessary name calling has been deleted. how about mature, civilized and clean discussions from now on? thank you =)
