Islam was not revealed to Arabs onlY!
I studied in an Asian Country and sometimes you can hear people reading the Quran better than an arab would do (especially that arabs use dilects nowadays which make some of the letters be pronounced differntly)
I think, Imam should be a person who is able to take the ost no matter what his nationality is!

did u understand what have i said?
I agree with Arabian Princess as long as we can find a perosn who can read Qur'an correctly its ok. its doesn't meter what nation or race he is.
YS .. I know really what u meant .. AP .. u have a point here .. but let me say mine.. of course Islam was for the humanity
But we were honoured by Allah Almighty to carry the holly message to the whole world ..it is not a privilege for the Arabs as it is a serious and hard mission that we gonna be asked in front of Allah on that day.. so we do have the leadership and we do have the responsibility
I personally prefer that Imam should be an Arabic one .. as u know that there r few conditions had to be fulfilled for this post and they r in order too
but that does not mean when we do not have one we will not pray in the mosque
that was to clear the issue for u friends
keep bringing up these topics plz.. they r the ones we should be concerned a bout

YS,
I understod your point from the first time, but what am saying is being an arab does not guntee that you will be able to pronounce the Quran correctly. For xample, in Oman in our dilect we use geem instead of Jeem and some Quran readers still cannot pronounce the Jeem!
I still beleive that a mousque Imam should go to a person who is able to read the Quran rightly no matter what his nationality is!
