A case study very briefly is:
when you look at business firm's performance and investigate its patterns so as to give your recommendations in order to improve the performance of that firm.
Now, I have never done any case studies in business firms, so what are the important issues I should concentrate upon if i am acting as a consultant manager given a particular firm. The firm is suffering from a decline in its current performance and i am being pointed to give advice, plans, changed, etc.. in order to recover the firm.
Any ideas? Arabo and the rest your help and advice are very appreciated here :)

It would help to understand the market in which this firm competes:
- history
- leaders
- trends
- size

exactly. Sometimes changing the leaders can benifit the company though.
So let me get this straight, Rev: This company's having difficulties. So they decide to employ a consultant to help them. The consultant goes on the 'Net and says, basically, 'I've got this job, I've no idea where to start or what to look for, and my experience of this subject is zero'. He then awaits practical advice from a bunch of students, misfits and other assorted complete strangers.
I think my first advice to this company would be to stop employing consultants who know less than they do!!!!
looool :D :D :D

Mimosa,
dont be hard on the guy .. I guess it is someting he has to do for his studies :)
Welll I advice to start by summarizng the case. From that make your SWOT analysis.
SWOT is strgthns, weakneses, opperrunties and threats.
in strgnths you check what are the companys strgnths .. what make them successful.
in weaknses again chck what makes them weak .. try to explore it from within the company itself.
When it comes to oppertunites try to look for advantages that the company could win outside the firm in the enviroment surronding it.
Threats are what problems which are in the enviroment also.
After doing this, everything will look easy for you and you would be able to evaluate the company and pin point where the problem was.
Good Luck :)
Princess,
Just a joke......sorry :)
