Ibadhi Book: Mudawwana al-Kubra

Assalaamu aleykum guys, I am researching the phrase "Come to the Best Action," (Hayya 'ala Khayr al-'Amal) in the adhan and was surprised to find it mentioned in an Ibadhi book.

25- ذكر قول: "حي على خير العمل" في الأذان:

[قال أبو غانم]روي[قومنا] أنه يقول [بلال(5 ) في الأذان] صبحا:«حي على خير العمل»(6 )، قال بعض قومنا فأمره صلى الله عليه و سلم أن يقول بدلها:«الصلاة خير من النوم»(7 )، وروي أن ابن عمر( 8) تارة يقول هذا وتارة يقول هذا، وكذلك قال أبو المؤرج: وروي ذلك عن أبي عبيدة كما قال الربيع.(9 )

I was really surprised that it said this phrase in the adhan has been narrated by Abi Obeida and would like to know more about this phrase among the Ibadhis. It lists this as a reference:

( 9) - المدونة الكبرى: لأبي غانم الخراساني، 1/42-43.

Unfortunately I have not been able to find it online. If anyone knows where I can view this book online, or has this book at home and can scan these pages for me, it would be much appreciated.

I would like to help you brother but I don't have much background on this particular issue. I can only tell you that we don't use the phrase ( Hayya ála Khayr al-Amal) in our Adhan at all.

Ibadies do not use this phrase in their call for prayers, as far as I know!

The phrase that is mensioned in Almudawana ("Come to the Best Action," (Hayya 'ala Khayr al-'Amal)) is mensioned in the hadeeth but according to this hadeeth , the prophets didnt accept that & rather he preffered other sentance : «الصلاة خير من النوم ie : (Prayer is better than sleeping ). But this is only in the Almudawina but couldnt find it in the Almusnad :

There are only 3 hadeeths regarding Adhan in Al-Musnad nothing is mensioned about the fajr adhan. Am waiting for an answer by Sh. Humooud Alsawafi (Current Ibadhi scholar) to see his response to what you have asked.

In geneal as far as I know, like what braiki said , we do not say any extra phrases in Adhan.

The Answer:It is not athentised & there i no hadeeth to support that in Al-Musnad.

Isn't there some kind of religious training center for Ibadhi clerics which would have at least a few young scholars online who could answer such questions or provide such texts?

There are arabic websites for fatwas (answers for any question concerns a muslim byyoung Ibadhi scholars) , so far I dont know if there is an ibadhi english website for fatwa.

There is also a fatwa hotline to the ministry of religious affaires. just ask through your phone.
