So here's the scenario
As a starting point, you are trying to highlight a fact about your religion in order to demonstrate to someone why they should consider your religion
What would you highlight?
For me, it would be the volume of prophecies about our Saviour (in the Old Testament) that were personified through Jesus
God is Love.
It can sound trite. It can be made trite.
But it is the most powerful revelation about God, about the world, about humanity, about life.
God is Love.
NOT: Love is God.
NOT: God is Luuuuuv, Wovey-Dovey.
But: God is Love.
Not, God is loving. Not God loves us greatly.
But God IS Love.

Anyone else want to promote their religion?

Islam is dervied from salam .. and salam means peace!
So Islam = Peace!!

Submission to one and the only one, subimission to the will of Allah.
It also means salam, the religion of peace.

Checking the first 2 lines, there is already a contradiction between these two:
His pre-existence
Born of the seed of a woman
Either is means submission or it means peace.
It means acquiring peace by submitting your will to Allah (swt).
Even Jesus PBUH said this:
"And Salām (peace) be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive!"

Tea,
A quick read will have shown you that:
"But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans [a] of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel,
and that
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only,[a] who came from the Father, full of grace and truth
and that
This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
Keep reading.......don't give up
But moving on, this thread is simply about the question in the 1st post
We can debate prophecies in another post
So, what is your answer?
The last two quotes doesn't prove Jesus PBUH is God, it only says that his birth without a father was a miracle like the creation of Adam. So that makes him a human being only.
And my answer would be:
And whoever seeks a religion other than Islām, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers..

Interesting starting point
Quran would be the starting point

Either is means submission or it means peace.
I thought this thread is about what our religion means to us?
Any way:
Islam means: Yislim al mar2 nafsuhu lilah (a guy submmits himself to gods)
The word comes from: sallam, yuslim fahwa muslim (deleivers, he deleivers, then he is a deleivere- submitter)
The word salam means peace. which comes from the same three letters S L M (how arabic dictionary works)
so in conclusion, more than one meaning can be derived from the word Islam .. and in addition, the islamic greeting is : al salam alykum - peace be on you
so I can freely say that Islam to me means peace!!
Looks like wudjab doesn't like peace.
Looks like wudjab doesn't like peace.
You think his religion is shirk.
He thinks your religion is aggressive.
You don't want to pick a fight with him about it, do you? :p
Seriously, though. According to you, shirk is the worst thing in the world and the unforgivable sin.
So: According to your standards, your idea of his religion is worse than his idea of your religion.
But: Salaam! Pax!
Why don't you tell us what inspires and internally convinces you about your religion, rather than what you disagree with about others' convictions?
If you had three minutes to show someone something beautiful and convincing about Islam, what would it be? Three minutes to make a deep impression...

Islam is peace and Allah is merciful
In addition I would ask them several questions and they should ask me whatever they want regarding my religion to answer them clearly with evidence :)
He thinks your religion is aggressive.
Maybe he can tell us why he thinks that way.
How about you do you think it is aggresstive?

Tea,
As Jeff says:
If you had three minutes to show someone something beautiful and convincing about Islam, what would it be? Three minutes to make a deep impression...
Well?
Three minutes are not enough. At least 10 minutes.
Maybe he can tell us why he thinks that way.
How about you do you think it is aggresstive?
The Sablian Muslims have beaten me to within and inch of my life! :p
You don't want to tell us what you think is the most attractive and convincing feature about Islam you could show to someone quickly? That's more central to the idea of the thread, I think.
Surely you don't object to that?
Three minutes are not enough. At least 10 minutes.
Hey man, if I only get two lines, you only get three minutes! :p
Give it a shot...pretend you're dealing with a dying person and the hospital staff only give you three minutes to talk to them.
Or a person about to go off to war or to Antarctica and be unreachable and you only have three minutes before they leave.
A dying person? He won't be interested in listening to what I say that time lol. But I will tell him to get better soon. And Allah loves him. And YOU CONVERT INTO ISLAM BEFORE YOU DIE AND GO TO HELL.
That's enough in three minutes :D
Apparently there is nothing positive about Islam that El and Tea could find.

I think we have a Freudian slip here.
Apparently El believe that converting to Islam will send you to hell.

El Rey,
There must be something that you would say that highlights what is special or beautiful about Islam?
Other than 'convert or die'
or
because my Mum said so
I really want this thread to be about positives

He said God loves you. That's pretty positive...
yah wud I wrote that for you to highlight :D

I've told you as a first I would suggest him to read the holy quran. Islam is all about positives that's why we can't specify one or two positives.
In brief I can tell him imagine anything humane, beautiful and comfortable, that's Islam.

What about something concrete?
Do you have a particular Quran passage that would be the best? Or maybe show him how to pray?
Something like that?
I can tell him that he can get four wives :XD:
He's a guy isn't he

Four wives? That might kill him on the spot! :p
I dunno if four wives would be the most appealing feature to a dying man, but who knows? :cute:
We are still talking about the dying man? I though it's another one

Is there a passage that most appeals to you?

There's a beautiful Qudsi Hadith that I think sums up the way Allah SWT treats His creatures and I think that would be what I would tell anyone if I had only three minutes...
I am as My servant thinks I am. I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assemble better than it. And if he draws near to Me an arm's length, I draw near to him a fathom's length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed.
Alternatively there is also a verse that I find just as interesting:
And when my servants ask you concerning me, [tell them] I am indeed near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls.
--Surat al Baqarah (Chapter 2/The Cow, verse 187).
