I thought that this would be useful to share:
From the Sunan of meeting a Muslim, are the following:
1.Give Tasleem:
The Messenger of Allah :PBUH: was asked:
'Which Islam is good (in terms of actions)?' He said: 'To feed the people and say Salaam to those you know and those you do not know'.
2.Lengthen the greeting:
A man entered upon the Messenger of Allah :PBUH: and said:
" السلام عليكم"
'As-salaamu alaykum'.
The Messenger :PBUH: replied to the Salaam. Then the man sat down and the Messenger :PBUH: said ' Ten'. Then another man came and said:
"السلام عليكم ورحمة الله"
'As-salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullah'.
The Messenger :PBUH: replied. Then the man sat down and the Messenger :PBUH: said: ' Twenty'. Another man came and said:
"السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته"
'As-salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wabarakaatuh'.
The Messenger :PBUH: replied. Then the man sat down and the Messenger :PBUH: said: ' Thirty'.
Look at how much loss of reward a person inflicts on himself by sufficing himself with saying only a part of the salutation. The person should say the entire Salaam so that he attaints thirty good deeds. Accustom yourself to completing the Salaam up to 'barakatuh'(بركاته) to obtain this great reward.

There are a few other sunah's which I didn't include (regarding "meeting people") but I wanted this to be the focus of my thread.
It's from a small book called:
"More than 1,000 Sunan (Sayings & Acts of The Prophet:PBUH:)
Every Day & Night"
I found it to be interesting and I myself didn't know that even something simple as saluting people is counted as thirty good deeds.
