A Hadeeth a week

As I was flipping through Saheeh Al-Bukhari today, the idea of posting a hadeeth each week crossed my mind.

That is, I'll post a hadeeth each week, and we can reflect upon it, and share our thoughts, ideas, personal experiences,articles etc, etc related to that Hadeeth..

I hope I wont be the only one participating, though ;)

Hadeeth # 1


Narrated by Aisha:Once the Prophet (pbuh) came while a woman was sitting with me. He said, "who is she?" I replied, "She is so-and-so," and told him about her (excessive) praying. He said disapprovingly, "Do good deeds which are within your capacity (without being overtaxed) as Allah does not get tired (of giving rewards) but (surely) you will get tired and the act of worship most loved by Allah is that which is done regularly"[From Saheeh Al-Bukhari, The Book of Belief]

This hadeed addresses several important concepts,
First is not to over burden ourselves with that which can't do..
Second, we should be persistant in what we perform..

Let's say, for example, you want to start praying Qiyam (aftre mid-night prayers)..if you start with 3 hrs a day, you might be able to continue for several weeks, but in the end, you would get tired and would stop..whereas if you start 10 minutes a day, and probably three times a week, you will gradually get used to it, and you wont find it heavy and difficult..

Do you think it also addresses the idea that if you spend all of your time in prayer, you are taking time away from actually doing good deeds/works?
For prayer is more for our own sakes than for God/Allah, He is most pleased by our helping others than in saying nice things to Him, and prayer should help us accomplish that instead of distracting us from it.
