Well, I think looking into one unified arab currency is a dream that would take very very very very long time and it might not ever happen to be honest.
But why should we start with a wide area when we can work with small areas .. Gulf countries has most of the possibilites to be one big economy. At least more or less then share simmiler views on economies and although thier economies are not fairly equal but somehow most of them have rich economies.

The only case where one currency is implemented is in EU. Is it working? every now and then we hear some difficulties araising from countries refusing to join (UK, and when the election in france was going on .. one of the candidates was calling to withdraw from the EU which means it has a opposition side)

I think there are differnt areas of integration before we enter into one currency .. We have to unify the customes and then common market, solve the income inequalities in those countries and then think of one currency. All the citizens should remmber that embracing one currncy means that many barririas between countries will be removed and they must accept that.

I think it works the other way round, a strong economy promotes one currency.
