Salams All,

Tommrow is Ashora, and it is highly recommanded to fast Ashora. It is recommanded too, to increas money donations and gifts for children n needy pepole.

couldnt find Hadith better than this to post, but its in Arabic, so whoever can get the translation, Barak ALLAH " may god bless him/her"

So please to remeber our Brothers n sister n our beloved GAZA in your Doa'a...

Let's not turn this thread into a haram/halal debate. Whoever wants to fast it, do so, if you don't, good for you.

But there shouldn't be any argument about this since all muslims should follow the prophet pbuh.

^ icetea, the thing is that if we talk about it than we would never going to come to a conculsion since ppl wont talk in islamis point of view, rather they will talk in SECTS point of view....

Th the end we all are one muslim, one body, so lets hope this thread wont open any disscussion about sects, n who is right n who is worng, coz beleive in me ice tea, it get gets worse when ppl start talking who will enter paradise n who will enter the hell.. a7san shai we lock this thread to avoid fetna...

I agree with you that no sects should be involved and we all should follow the prophet sunnah.

No need to lock it.

According to scholars, you may choose to fast `Ashura’ on three days (ninth, tenth, and eleventh); two days (ninth and tenth); or one day only (the tenth).

So, yea, you may fast for 1, 2, or 3 days

Ya, its haram or makrooh to fast on ashura cuz the Iftar itself is a celebration, and we don't want to celebrate any thing on the death day of Imam Hussain

Can you bring references for these practices ?

hezbollah

( i think there's more or thats it)

astaghfarallahaladhim, if you are going to say stuff like that you have to site it by either quran or hadith.

but seriously shia people are allowed to site their info, by their imam? i was always taught that you site the quran, hadith, sunnat arrasoul, and it made logical sense to me because if you site your imam, thats his point of view, and not reliable islamically.

All of the Shia hadiths that indicate that it's disliked or prohibited to fast on the day of Ashura are weak (daif). You can see an analysis by Ayatullah al-Khoei starting on page 313:

http://alkhoei.com/data/almaktaba/U22/301-320.htm

Here are some sahih Shia hadiths about it:

"Fasting the day of Ashura is an atonement (kaffara) for the year."

"Fast Ashura, the ninth and the tenth, for it atones for the sins of a year."

So, like Sunnis, the authentic Shia position is that it's recommended to fast on Ashura and fasting it expiates for the sins of the previous year.
