Qais,
thanx for teh suggestion. I know if I will be looking for a job in emirates I will get it in high salary then what I will get in Oman. But I dont like the life style there sorry (especially Dubai). Some of my family members live in AbuDhabi, hey love it there but thier life style is differnt than what I grew in .. and this is why I choose to work in Oman. Plus I am married I cannot go alone without him :)

.Arby, you said you wanna work at a news agent.....
what kind of work do you really wanna do?
Princess,
The Omani media are still small and have limited opportunities and quality. There are only two newspapers with reasonable circulations ('Oman' and 'Al Watan'). I don't know of any female journalists in either. But that's not to say they don't need any.
What exactly would you like to do in a newspaper? Would you want to be a reporter, chasing the news? Or maybe a columnist, writing more in-depth articles about subjects of interest in the 'opinion' sections?
If you want to be a columnist and write about things that interest you (like you do here!), then the best way to start is to write.....
Even if it's just for yourself in the beginning. Then, once you are comfortable with your written style, get in touch with the editors of the major Omani papers, and submit some of your articles. It may be disappointing if they don't use them, but keep at it. Find out the style/length/subjects that are suitable by knocking on their door every day until they like something you write.
Believe me, some of the rubbish that is in the papers, you shoudn't have to wait too long before they realise what they are missing!
The great thing as well about being a columnist is that you can spend as much or as little time at the office as you like. You can work from home, and you can even work for many different papers at the same time.
It's a great ambition, don't be put off. Your country needs you!

qais money is not everything when somebody is looking for a job, u should be happy in the environment u are working in so that u can relax and do your work properly. And who told u its that difficult to find a job in Oman, yes it is difficult for people who are not holding any degree or just graduated from high school, but for people with good qualifications its not that difficult.

Mimosa,
actually I am already writing in my own notebook :) I have been writing since I am small .. sometimes I am not comfprtable with what I am writing, but I do not think I mind putting in a news paper as a start.
I dont know where I wanna work in the newspaper. SOmetimes I just want to work as a administartor and since I will be close to the newspaper I could persuade them to post my writings .. sometimes I wanna start as a columinest (not a journalist running behind news :) )
well, away from the news papers, where do u think another area to be working in?
Princess,
I can't tell you what you should be doing for a living!
I guess the best place to start is to look at what it is you really enjoy doing, then work out whether there's a job that involves doing what you love. Administration stinks by the way, stick to writing!

I can stick to wirting, but it does not earn living unless you are well known !!!
I have to have something else while I am writing.
I opened this thread to tell me what to do .. but since I have been away from Oman for so long I dont really know where does the work oppertinuties lie! so I was hoping people would help listing companies and places where they think offer a good deal of salaries, oppertinties for further studies and good work timings.
There is only one way to become well-known! And you have your husband to support you while you get established?
Maybe you could try to do what you said, and work in the media in some other role while you try to get your writing career moving. I'll keep my ears open for you, I know a couple of people in the media.
But if you find a job with good pay, good hours and opportunities for further study, will you let me know? I will apply too ;)

I did put LNG and PDO in my mind.
I have only one problem with LNG that it is in Sur, which means I will have to be away from my husband and I dont know if I am strong enough :)
If my husband got a job at LNG maybe I will consider applying there.
