~ What solution do you use for your contact lenses?
I use ReNu solution by Bausch & Lomb. I used to use Complete solution for years until suddenly the pharmacies stopped selling it here in Oman, cause they found out that it's not really good for the eyes or something like it.
~ What is good about it?
It's normal, like any other solution I guess. Keeps my lenses clean and moist.
~ If you have red eyes or dry eyes what do you do/use to get rid of the redness or the dryness? Eye drops?
You have to find out the reason of the redness in your eyes, it might be an infection or your eyes just need some rest from the contact lenses. Same thing for the dryness, take a quick visit to a doctor so he can prescribe you the right drops for your eyes. Don't use any drops that people tell you about, take good care of your eyes, they are precious! :)
I used to wear permanent contact lenses (those without an expiry date), and at the time I used Renu solution by Bausch and Lomb.
I don't know if it's my poor rinsing skills or if those contacts did not suit me, but I found that my eyes always got very sensitive and red after a while of wearing the contacts on consecutive days. Result? I had to wear glasses around for a couple of days till my eyes got better. :bored:
Now and as of almost a year back, I've been wearing the 24-hour contact lenses. You don't need to store them or clean them, just pop them on in the morning and then at night before you go to bed; throw them away. The next morning you'll have a fresh new pair, and so on. I don't even own a solution bottle! :p
I advise all of you with sensitive eyes to use those disposable ones as they are always clean and fresh and you never have to worry about them catching any germs.
^ i've got stigmatisim in one of my eyes (don't recall which), and i usually have to order my lenses because the optical shops don't have my cylindrical power (which is not that bad..i can manage without them, my vision is just a little blurred, one is -1.25 and the other is -1.50)
are there any Biomedics disposable lenses in Oman?
and do you find them at the store? or do you order them as well?

Solo Care Aqua.
~ What is good about it?
It does not make my eyes red or cause me discomfort.
~ Have you tried other different solutions?
yes i have
~ If yes...how did you find them compared to the one you are currently using?
Not good, its was pretty itchy. I prefer to stay on the safe side and stick to the one i'm currently using.

What solution do you use for your contact lenses?
I've been using Bausch and Lomb Renu for the past 10 years since I've started wearing contact lenses. As a pharmacist, I can guaruntee that they're probably the best in the market in terms of quality control and they're good for people with sensitive eyes as well.
~ What is good about it?
Their quality, they can be used even if u have sensitive eyes. They reduce protein buildup without the need to clean the contacts urself, especially the NO-RUB type.
~ Have you tried other different solutions?
Yes I have and I have sensitive eyes, i found the solution irritating and made my contacts feel a little more brittle than normal.
~ If yes...how did you find them compared to the one you are currently using?
More brittle, slight stinging in my eyes initially and some caused slight redness and itchiness.
~ If you have red eyes or dry eyes what do you do/use to get rid of the redness or the dryness? Eye drops?
If you have red eyes due to allergies or hay fever, then u need to use a special type of eye drops made specifically for allergies. Normally VISINE is an excellent company that i recommend in Canada, I dont know if its available in Oman.
IF you have red eyes due to an infection then normal drops are not ur best bet, you need to see ur Dr. and he will prescribe u an antibiotic eye ointment or drops to use.
If you have red eyes due to contacts, and normally red eyes that are itchy or dry, then Visine for contact lens wearers are the best, again i don't know if they're available in Oman, I buy mine in Canada.
Hope this helps :)
ps: If you wanna know how to tell what the cause of ur red eyes are, lemme know.

I would like to advice you not to take others opinion especially when it comes to such a sensitive, vital and important organ considered the most precious jewellery that every one has which are eyes coz it differs between individuals what suits others not necesserily suits you dear,
so here are links to specialised sites you can read through to get enough information and answer your questions then you can decide what to choose along with your opthalmologist "eyes doctor"

General question (contact and non-contact lenses users):
~ If you have red eyes or dry eyes what do you do/use to get rid of the redness or the dryness? Eye drops?
Ok regarding the dryness and redness both might be symptoms of allergy or even an-eye infection, so I will make sure that's not an-infection importantly coz fungal infection treated by anti-fungals if miss-diagnosed is dangerous and might lead to blindness.
and if it is bacterial infection then treated by anti-bacterials and this is done in hospital of course by medical prescription
Ok if I know that I'm allergic to certain chemicals, food, certain type of eye make-up as eyeliner or alkohol then should stop it, if I'm allergic to unknown reason then topical anti-allergic drug as eye drops is my only treatment
For dryness I should check the reason of eye dryness especially if it's chronic the opthalmologist will diagnose the cause.
If it is acute for few days rarely appears eye dryness for known reasons then natural tears or isopto-alkaline eye drops can help to control it till the cause is over Insha-Allah.

my sister has stigmatisim in both eyes, she orders her contacts from Hassan Optics in Al Qurm, opposite Al Khamis Plaza, and like you - they don't have her exact cylindrical power. But the contacts she uses are disposable as well, not daily though I think weekly or monthly, not quite sure.
You should ask the store you operate with about this, I recommend the disposable lenses they're very gentle on your eyes.

wow! Thanx a lot everyone for the nice and good advice.
I used to wear the yearly contacts, but then changed to the monthly ones. Of course they were way better than the yearly ones. So I do not recommend ANYONE to wear the yearly ones. But the daily ones sound much nicer...because they're fresh everyday and ready to wear without solution or cleaning. So I will look into this.
I use Renu of Bausch & Lomb ever since I started using contacts. I tried another solution recommended by my doc. but it wasn't as good and as comfortable as Renu. Eye burning and stuff...so was told to go back to Renu. It is truly the best I guess.
Ah, the dryness is probably for the hot weather here or maybe for wearing the contacts for long hours. So I was wondering if there was some kind of eye drops for this.
As for the redness, it's not an infection or fever (7amdulellah), but lack of sleep, long hours on the computer, contacts lenses again.
Somedays when I put on my contacts, like as soon as they touch my eyes I get a sting from the solution (I'm guessing). Is this normal, like does this happen to some of you on some days? Also when I've been wearing them for a long time during the day...then I come to take them off, I get a little sting also. Is this just from tiredness and over use of the contacts or is it something serious that needs to be checked by the doctor?

^I get that when I wear them and take them off also, just like you. I think it's normal cause it has been happening to me for ages now.

i've been wearing the monthly disposable ones for more than 5 years now (ever since i started wearing lenses), there was a time when i used the weekly ones, but since they're ACUVUE i stopped wearing them and shifted to Biomedics, because all three optometrist i've been to recommended them, saying they're the best lenses out there. (and i have to agree with them) they're much more comfier than any of the other brands i've used so far, and i rarely get redness, itchiness, etc..
but like all other lenses, they tend to get dry when i'm sleep deprived, or if i was sitting in front of the computer screen for several hours. the solution i'm currently using Solo Care Aqua, it's quite good.
i checked online, and it looks like they do have daily Biomedics lenses, i'm just gonna have to check with the shops i'm usually buying from and see if i can get them ordered.
thanks :)
I am currently using ReNu solution by Bausch & Lomb. Nothing special about it, maybe it just makes my eyes a bit less red.

I never really gave a sh!t about the solution brand I feel that they all serve the same purpose ie keeping your lenses clean and moist .. I'm using Fresh Look's solution I got it for free when I bought fresh look lenses lol
I change the solution brand every time, i dont care really.
but i dont like Renu, it hurts my eyes.
your eyes will get dry mostly cuz of the sun, or cuz they are about to expire.
so use shades and change ur lenses as soon as they finish :)
Contact lenses are a crime. It took me more than hour to remove the bloody things :(!

I heard that you need to be 31 to take the operation. Because at that age your eyesight stops changing. Is that right?
^ i heard you should be 25 or above.

My optician said you need to take it at the age of 23. Average is 21 for eye sight to stop changing, but some people get 22 and 23 as well.

Umm do you guys live in world war 2? We use daily ones now. Throw them end of the day and the only solution used is the water washing hands before and after!
