Dear freinds: ( I have been an active member in the general sablah, but this is my first contribution in this section; I hope i be part of it)

Does the labour law effects you?
Are you happy with the labour law which was established in the seventies when around 1% of Omanis were affected by it?
or is it time it gets real!?

What I do not like about it :
Salary:
1) wages/salary:

a) low minimum set.
b) no policy on salary increment after certain years.
c) no policy on increment of Housing, transport & food allowances after years of work.

2)leaves:

a) short annual leaves(4 weeks) for all levels junior & senior positions and no policy for increment of leave after certain years (never gets increased!!)
b) no marriage leave & no new born leave for fathers at all.
c) no family condolence/mourning leave more than a day.

3) The worst and un secure retirement programme. (Social Security?????)

Many important details are left up to the company to decide whether to grant or take from Omani employees.

I am so much frustrated my self now for working for a French oil company in a senior post for 6 yeras.
The goverment paid so much money in educating us overseas and yet allowing companies to pay us low wages.

Hope you share with me your feelings in working with a company using the Labour Law as a maximum.
