Recently, I have been hearing many debates about the legitimacy of covering the feet (For women)..

I believe it is more important to stick to the basic beliefs, and not to overburden your self, for we know that Islam was made easy for its followers..but the problem is that some people are making a big deal about it..

I want to know if it is musta7ab (optional) , or fardh ( a must)?

I would appreciate it if someone can enlighten us about this issue..

Well, again this topic is also a debate between me and my friends.
I beleive like Bimmy, I think we should concentrate more on the basic things and then move gradually.
First of all, a woman's feet is mostly covered with shoes .. so we should not over burden our self especially that we live ina hot country and covering the feet with socks will just make it smell.

about how fardh or Mustahab, I read a book about (do and donts in Islam) and it was explaning about the Hijab for women, it did mention that covering the whole body except the hand, face and the feet. but it did not mention the feet in detail.

Ice Tea, I read more than once that the hadith is weak, because the timing betw the narrator and Aisha is quite far, and there is not report that they actually met.
