Salam.
Is it true that belly fat is harder to loose compared to the fat on the hips of the backsides for instance?
1- I once read that we should not bother exercising this area because it only builds muscles and will make it look even bigger. Is that true?
2- I also read that if you've got belly fat and you are over 30, they you should change your clothes because you'll never get rid of it.
Is that true?
Thanks

Yes Belly fat is hard to loose, but everything else you said is wrong. You probably misunderstood what you read.
1- I once read that we should not bother exercising this area because it only builds muscles and will make it look even bigger. Is that true?
No that's not exactly true.
What you read probably meant that you shouldn't bother doing any belly excersise like sit ups and crunches because all they do is strengthen your ab muscles, so if you initially have a layer of fat covering the muscles, theres no point of strengething the muscles underneath the fat because it won't really make any "visual" difference.
You need to first lose the belly fat; by doing cardio excersises and banning harmful carbs from your diet, and than when you'v lost the fat, focus on the ab excersises in order to strengthen and shapen them.
I hope that made sense.

No that's definitely not true. 30 is a very young age, with the right willpower and ditermination people can lose belly fat (or any fat) at any age.

That's a relief. Thanks everyone. :cute:
But I wonder why is it different that the rest of body fat?
And how does it go off?
I'm sure it does not go my message, but I though that when we excercise the muscles under the fat move and thus take their energy from the this fat since it is closer.
I don't prefer to do cardio. I'm an indoor person, and the rest of my body is ok, it is just that I have certain parts that I want to slim, I don't want to loose weight.
Thanks =)
^ Cardio doesn't necesserily make you lose weight.
Also, since you're an indoor person, why don't you use the treadmill? Set the speed & Incline to a steady level at first and than increase as you go along.

Yes, i've heard belly fat is harder to lose. I've also heard having belly fat is more dangerous than having fat in other areas.

It's not hard..
According to my experience/s , the way to lose belly fat is to HAVE THE WILL
Without will, it will not be done, and after that, you can start doing the excercises and dieting and all the good stuff (if you shall say)..
In the Holy Quran, He says: "innama al a3maal bil niyyaat"
Peace V!

Maybe that can be your new mission impossible to accomplish!! :D it's gonna be a good one.. please do update us every week on what you're planning to do.. are you gonna do it for real or is this a pre-plan type of thing?
I'll check with my belly fat and get back to you.
Ducklet, there are special exercises for different parts of the body, whether to lose fat or to tone up

For most people, men especially, the belly is the first place you get fat and the last place you lose it.

I don't think it's hard, as long as you have the willingness to do so.
Is it true that Butt fat is harder to lose?
Shall we do a missionary or a doggy to get rid of it? Or how about some standing crunches?

Abdicate, v. To give up all hope of ever having a flat ab.
I guess that is a myth…
I think that is the hardest part to work out in the body. It has more components than exercise. Genetics and age play important roles.
One thing you sure have to do and nothing will work without is to do an aerobic exercise, jogging/running is the best.
If your abs are average fat, try to do crunches in the morning and to jog about 3 times per week, 30-40 minutes each and also cut down on fat-rich food and pastries. No equipment is needed and this is enough not just to flatten your abs but to accentuate the muscles.

Thanks everyone for your instructive inputs. :)
I'm currently doing my best to eat less fat. But I have a sweet tooth and I love spaghetti.
I have a video tape that has exercise for each part of the body. Tummies exercises are really painful  but I'll do my best. Getting a treadmill is a nice idea, I can use it and watch tv.
Another fact about me; I'm lazy, currently I'm planning in sha Allah to exercise once a week. Let's see if I manage to make make it twice. :super:
it all depends on u, some ppl eat right and go to the gym and lose almost nothing but some ppl go to the gym for 2weeks and see results fast
Is it true that Butt fat is harder to lose?
Nope, for some people.
Less African food (mandazi, mhogo, mahragi, patata roojo, etc) would help losing in some cases. :XD:
hmmm.. thats weird cuz i read the opposite..
from what i know is.. when u gain weight the fat goes straight to the hips, but when ur trying to lose weight then the belly fat is what u lose???
anyways.. if ur 30 ur still young and u shouldnt give up..
working out and eating healthy will do it all..
^ Depends, each person is different.
Some people find that when they gain weight, the fat shows more in the hips, with some others its the abs.. etc.
Not everyone's the same.
oh yeah i guess.. that's why people have different shapes

Drink once you walkup in the morning a cup of ginger with lemon and belly dance every day you will reach your target.
Apple cider also works well.
^Are you allowed to drink that? :p
(hint: no)
^ LOL ofcourse you are. As long as it's diluted in warm water and in a very small amount than yes you are allowed to drink it.
But remember : Moderation is the key.
Apple cider also works well.
how does it taste like :shy:
^ LOL I have no clue, never tried it, don't think I ever will.
Google "Apple cider for weight loss" for more info :p
Belly fat is not very difficult to lose but it takes time.
The hardest fat to lose and shaping is the waist fat. The one which builds up on the sides of the belly. Sadly there's just one exercise for these sides because the body can only do move in that way.
The best way to get a nice belly is to jog and sweat everyday, it shapes the belly plus the bums!

Also, having your last meal of the day before 8pm and not snacking afterwards should help keep your tummy in shape :)
