hey everyone,
Okay i got these two kittens and I like fats cats u see  and soooo Im wondering is it okay to feed cats/kittens human food ( ex: spaghetti, meat blah blah)
WHen im eating i give them the rest of my food to eat and so now they are a lil "chubby" :p ( my goal is to make them fat chunkies lool)
Like i give them regular milk cuz they meow when i dont give it to them and i also give them butter too :P - but dont worry i give them regular kitten food but i also give them human food.
my queston is - is it okay?
or
Will it affect them in someway?
They will be perfectly fine, especially the type you've got. Not picky at all

actually no....animals can suffer from the same ailments as humans including diseases like diabetes. When a cat gets overweight it puts stress on their kidneys and can also predispose them to other diseases.
Items to avoid
Bones from fish, poultry, or other meat sources Can cause obstruction or laceration of the digestive system.
Canned tuna (for human consumption) Large amounts can cause malnutrition, since it lacks proper levels of vitamins and minerals.
Chocolate, coffee, tea, and other caffeine Contain caffeine, theobromine, or theophylline, which can be toxic and affect the heart and nervous system.
Citrus oil extracts Can cause vomiting.
Dog food If accidental ingestion, will not cause a problem; if fed repeatedly, may result in malnutrition and diseases affecting the heart.
Fat trimmings Can cause pancreatitis.
Grapes and raisins Contain an unknown toxin, which can damage the kidneys.
Human vitamin supplements containing iron Can damage the lining of the digestive system and be toxic to the other organs including the liver and kidneys.
Large amounts of liver Can cause Vitamin A toxicity, which affects muscles and bones.
Macadamia nuts Contain an unknown toxin, which can affect the digestive and nervous systems and muscle.
Milk and other dairy products Some adult cats and dogs do not have sufficient amounts of the enzyme lactase, which breaks down the lactose in milk. This can result in diarrhea. Lactose-free milk products are available for cats.
Mushrooms Can contain toxins, which may affect multiple systems in the body, cause shock, and result in death.
Onions and garlic (raw, cooked, or powder) Contain sulfoxides and disulfides, which can damage red blood cells and cause anemia. Cats are more susceptible than dogs. Garlic is less toxic than onions.
Persimmons Seeds can cause intestinal obstruction and enteritis.
Potato, rhubarb, and tomato leaves; potato and tomato stems Contain oxalates, which can affect the digestive, nervous, and urinary systems. This is more of a problem in livestock.
Raw eggs Contain an enzyme called avidin, which decreases the absorption of biotin (a B vitamin). This can lead to skin and hair coat problems. Raw eggs may also contain Salmonella.
Raw fish Can result in a thiamine (a B vitamin) deficiency leading to loss of appetite, seizures, and in severe cases, death. More common if raw fish is fed regularly.
Salt If eaten in large quantities it may lead to electrolyte imbalances.
Sugary foods Can lead to obesity, dental problems, and possibly diabetes mellitus.
Table scraps (in large amounts) Table scraps are not nutritionally balanced. They should never be more than 10% of the diet. Fat should be trimmed from meat; bones should not be fed.
Yeast dough Can expand and produce gas in the digestive system, causing pain and possible rupture of the stomach or intestines.

I think you shouldn't feed them as main course... maybe few bites.. cos they can get fatty liver from human food ( thts a pre-other-diseases), and also diabetes later!
Throw them the remains of your food, no problem
I'm not a vet, so you better consult one :P

wow seems marianna is the expert here :P
we used to feed our cat normal human food, he got fat alright
I think it's very evil & mean to purposely get your cat fat. As marianna mentioned, overweight/obese animals suffer from terrible health problems just like humans do. It's not fair to the cat to have to suffer like that just becaus eyou think fat cats are nice. :bored: Also, I'm a firm believer in feeding pet cats & dogs raw meat. They're natural carnivores, so I really don't get all these special foods they make for them, those chocolate/vegetable/grain etc. treats & the rest of it. Raw meat with some extra supplements suggested by a vet sound like the best diet to me.
Deliberately, unnaturally fattening your pets is animal abuse.

With my cats I keep them at their ideal weight...one is 11 pounds the other 10...Luna is 11 pounds and Simba 10. I did ask a vet and he explained to me that when cats gained too much weight (even one pound over their ideal can put a strain on their kidneys) is harmful and they are suseptible to getting diabetes. All I can say is the best food out there is the one's specially created for cats and kittens. I buy Meow Mix and feed them half a cup in the morning each and half a cup in their own bowls in the afternoon when I get home.
Best of luck :)

That's just typical cat behavior and they will be ok.....I have fed my cats this way for years and thankful to God no health problems at all. Luna is six years old and has never ever been sick and Simba is 3 and the same. I keep my cats strictly indoors (indoor cats will live longer lives than cats who live outside--a study was done and outdoor cats' average lifespan was four years) and cats who live inside and outside roughly six due to the diseases they can pick up from being outside and around other cats. Indoor cats can live a long long time. Simba who is a Himmi can live up to 16 years and Luna who is mixed has an average lifespan of about the same. My sister was telling me about a woman she met at the vet who had to finally put her cat to sleep at 30 years of age. I was like WOW. He was an indoor cat.
Random thought: Never feed your Dog chocolate, specially if it was small in size.
(I speak of experience :p)

Is this a joke?
Cats are not dogs, they won't just eat anything.
I would not feed pets human food and I would not want them to get fat.
You can just plug it with an air-hose and pump.

^ That might work.
no jihad this is not a joke- i o feed them human food i mean not like make them a god damn plate lol - i mean like ill give them a bit from my hand and ill give them milk in a little bowl.. WELL IT SNOT MY FAULT they come into the fridge and they give me this .....face :boo:

^ oh ok....When you said spaghetti I imagined serving them a bowl of it. :mmhmm:
I know cats like butter, but I can't imagine a cat eating spaghetti. lol...
Little morsels of human food can't be bad.
But still why do you want them to get chunky? I have seen some obese cats before and it ain't pretty.
As I know, cat food is the best for cats, throwing them a bit of meat from time to time doesn't hurt.. Keep them away from bones though!

Throw them the remains of your food, no problem
Or simply throw them :bored:

juju, cats have a natural instinct, they wont eat anything that would be bad for them. they wont want to eat such thing..not anything other than meat:p
They will if they're hungry or if it's nutritious in some other way. Jiddo says cats like butter. I imagine that's because they like salty things (when I was a kid, mine used to like cheese and onion flavour crisps). But you shouldn't give them cow's milk etc...they cannot digest it well.
Anyway, cut to the chase here Jooj: It's a CAT. Feed it MEAT. If you really want to abuse the poor beast and make it fat, then feed it MORE MEAT. You can also buy unnecessary cat-friendly treats too, like "cat milk" and "cat snacks". So knock yourself out. Oh, and some brands of cat food have certain ingredients that encourage dependency...try feeding your cat "Whiskas" for a few days then change brands. Cat will not be happy. And because of this magic ingredient, you can get your cat to over-eat if you really want it to.
Anyway, good luck, and shame on you CAT-ABUSER!

I didn't know Whiska's had some kind of dependency ingredient....well, for mine I buy them treats but I feed them only as directed from the pouch. It would kill me to know it was my fault for making my cats sick because of what I fed them. I kind of want them around for awhile. Once in a blue moon I give Simba my left over yogurt...not much though because it has milk in it. He will lick the container clean (it's small). When he was a kitten I introduced him to yogurt and he got his head stuck inside of it mewling until mama (me) got him unstuck...btw he only likes strawberry yogurt...no other flavors.

I have to REMIND Simba to eat. Luna no problem but Simba another story but he's healthy. My daughter and I weighed them last week and they are still 11 pounds (Luna) and 10 pounds (Simba)....when I open a bag of cat treats I can be alone in the kitchen and then 1 split second later I turn around and both cats are looking at me with those big eyes of theirs anticipating the deliciousness of that treat.
Gotta love it.
