Great attributes of Allah (swt).

Allah is the correct name compared to God.

For example you can add (s) to God and it will be Gods but you can't do that with the name Allah.

Also you can add The to God and it will be The God, you can't say The Allah in arabic.

Beatiful names and only Ice can add insult to something so unique by trashing the name of what Christians call God. Thanks Ice...you never let me down.

So what is the word for gods in Arabic then?

there is NO plural name for Allah swt in Arabic as IceTea said we can't say Allahs, and this is the uniqueness of Arabic language which proves the oneness of Allah swt.

For some reason, reading this list of names brought to mind a beautiful Welsh hymn:

"Immortal, invisible God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious,
The Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious,
Thy Great Name we praise!"

Yes, I see.

I was just thinking there must be a different word for 'gods', then.

If you were translating a sentence from English to Arabic that said, 'the gods of the religion of ancient Greece included Zeus and Hera' what word would you use?

ok, in that case you would say "Aliha" which is the plural of "Ilah".

but remember in Arabic language Aliha and Ilah DOESN'T mean Allah swt, it simply means anything that people worship other than Allah swt.

Well, that was great to know, thanks, in your good deed balance, inshALLAH.

Well, they are all nice, but the name that i have strong connection with is the " Effacer" al 3afou", Effacer of sins does three things.
1.He erases your sins,
2.He becomes satisfied with you and then,
3. He gives you more, even if you have not asked Him for that which he gave you.
If you pray and supplicate, “O Allah, You are The Effacer of sins and You love effacing sins, so efface mine," اللهم إنك عفو تحب العفو, فاعفو عني"” whatever your sin was will be erased, and the gap will be filled up. Your book of bad deeds will be void of sins; a clean slate. This is what the Prophet (SAWS) asks those who have many sins to start a new start in their life...
