Zimbabwean police on Thursday detained a convoy of British and US diplomats while they were on their way to investigate the ongoing political violence ahead of the country's presidential re-run elections, said the US Embassy in Harare.

McGee said that the incident violated all diplomatic protocols

"The police told them they were not going anywhere and they should respect the laws of the country, unless they have something to hide," he said.

Sure. They can expel the diplomats or close the embassy. They can protest. They can recall their own ambassadors.

zimbabwe...oh what a lovely country that has turned out to be.
mugabe (he hasn't given up hasn't he?) ousting thousands of white people off their own farms and giving them to his people who haven't got a clue where to start, running his own country into famine. these people were there to investigate violence. is that part of the law of the country. what a sad country beautiful zimbabwe has become.
