But my son is 12 and I wouldn't let him roam freely here.

But occasionally things are talked about a bit too freely or in the wrong way, language is used that shouldn't be used, etc.

Well, I don't think it's healthy to give a person absolute freedom at this age, it may lead them into taking the wrong paths without realizing. Taking such decisions may seem harsh, but the person whom takes away your freedom once you abuse it truly cares about you! Trust me on this :) If I didn't care, I wouldn't give two sh!ts on what she does online, and I think your brothers should at least talk to you about it.

On a side note, you're 11! Do you want to know what are the type of things I used to do at your age? I had so much fun, and enjoyed my childhood in every way possible! I used to go swimming with daddy every other day.. Play video games with my older brother pathologically. I did A LOT! And I'd hate it if I would look back at my childhood as a "internet-addict" 'Coz at some point or another, you will be hooked to the internet as you grow, well most of us are. So why don't you seize the moment of being a child and make the best out of it? Occupy yourself with an activity related to "fun"

Threadlike is 16, you are 11. That is a 5 years difference which is a lot. So there is no valid comparison there.

I don't think it is appropriate for someone as young as you to be here whether your parents or older brothers or cousins know. I think it is bad parenting if your parents think it is okay to let you roam forums as freely as you want and I don't think a responsible sibling should allow you to do so without proper supervision.

You seem like a kid who is mature and intelligent for his age, however the ones who said it is okay for you to be here because of your level of maturity fail to acknowledge that sabla HAS a lot of content that should not be read by minors regardless of their level of maturity. Everything is in due time and your time will come when it would be more than okay to roam any forum of your choice and any website you desire. i'd much rather see you on a forum with your peers. my daughter is on hexrpg.com it's a harry potter site and they discuss many things but in a kid way. i think the age limit is 14. there are mods and parents watching over the forum as well. my daugther is very mature as well, but she won't be allowed in to sabla before she's 16.

Period. As a mother I think it is highly inappropriate to have children who are pre-puberty for God's sake participating or reading issues they shouldn't be reading.

I don't and WON'T apologize for it because I AM a mother and I am very conservative when it comes to children.

Imo.. it's not sabla's responsability to ensure that children don't have access as they are underage and their parents are the ones responsible. BUT, it doesn't mean there are no VBulletin tools to help PREVENT kids getting access to adult-focused discussions.

Due to not being able to control such things even in the admin section... it is the parent's responsibility to watch what their children do. blocking this site would not have any valid arguments. cuz in this case all forums should be blocked.

Imo.. it's not sabla's responsability to ensure that children don't have access as they are underage and their parents are the ones responsible. BUT, it doesn't mean there are no VBulletin tools to help PREVENT kids getting access to adult-focused discussions.

I don't have a problem, it is the job of the parents to watch what their kids do online not ours. All we can do is make sure they're not being immature on the forum, that they follow the rules like everyone else and that those rules are applied to them just like the rest. :)

What bothers me is when I discuss something with a member whom I don’t know very well… if the age difference is 15 years then my approach will be different than if the member is my age…

It happened with me several times…

Let us hope the forum will not be invaded by kids.

I think at the end they will get bored and leave sabla.

My opinion, I see this thread as an attention seeking thread and nothing more. What exactly did you benefit from this thread other than alerting people of your existence in this Sabla? You wanted their opinion? Most of the replies are against you because of your age. But did that change your presence in the sable? I think not.
