Am not omani.. but if it meant it would put food on the table when there wasn't any, yes I would. And I HATE house chores - but I'd rather work than sit at home and wait for money to fall into my lap.

but since nobody forced you and you are perfectly happy working for 50 ro's, there is no need for human rights agencies. here you have the priviledge of using real soap and gloves, water, and a good vaccuum cleaner. imagine how lucky you are. back home you'll be the envy of everybody.

unfortunately no cause i really hate house chores as simple as that.

i dont know where life could take me, today i am an office 8-5 worker, tomorow all jobs gone and we get in a great depression, then i dont mind doing that to feed my family!

I guess this question is not only about maids, its about taking any low paying job just to feed your family.

If I had to, ofcourse I would do it. Like Thalia, I'd rather work as a maid rather than keeping my family starve.

I go like AP and Thalia.... if i had children need to go to school and food to survive... i wont hesitate working as a made! ts going to be very hard on my pride im sure but again it is a clean source to get money (there are other options usually few women take as an option to get easy quick and lots of money)

I remember when I got out of the army I worked at a factory for a summer because I needed the money for myself and my daughter. I wasn't too proud to work this hard labor until I found something better.

When you are placed in a circumstance that you have no choice but to work then it really tests your character.

If I had to I would, but in the Islamic world there are restrictions to how much a strange man can be in the same room with a strange woman, so I can be a gardner outside or a driver, that's perfectly fine with me. No shame at all in earning your money with any type of honest work.

Why not if an Omani can accept the salary am paying my maid and can do the job properly, I will also hire Omani Maid:angel::angel: i dont have to pay Flight tickets. clearance charges, Labour cards etc etc less headache...

she used to cook, clean, and helped my aunt in raising her 8 children as well...my female cousins learned alot of recipes from her :p

Actually, I just remmbered Omani women already do it .. not at homes, but at schools and comapnies. We have cleaners who work to provide for thier famlies. You hear thier stories, its heart breaking .. but at least they are doing something instead of staying at home and complaining.

this thread made me laugh when J'adore and i were talkin about maids and what not,

well i personally feel its alritem they always come cuz they want to come not cuz someone pulled them by the hair and told them to come, and it always depends on what kinf of person u are some dress there maids nice some dont some treat them nice some dont, and they make enough money, but they neevr over work thats what i noticed, like the maid we have in Kuwait she only washes dishes, makes the beds and thats it thees another one to clean the living rooms and what not, so0o0o its normal and they sleep at 9pm and wake up 6am s0o0o i think its good

There are other options other than working as a maid. If i really needed a job and i didn't have any educational qualifications then i could work as a secretery, in a call centre, sales woman, etc. I don't think being a maid is my one and only option.
