View Full Version : Rare tribe photographed in Amazon
Published: May 30, 2008, 14:53
Rio de Janeiro: Amazon Indians who have never had contact with the world have been spotted in the Amazon’s western jungle near the border between Brazil and Peru.
The tribe was sighted in an Ethno-Environmental Protected Area over the Brazilian state of Acre, the National Foundation of the Indigenous People (Funai) said on Thursday.
The tribe was photographed from the air, and images released on Thursday showed tribal members painted bright red, some of them preparing to fire arrows at the aircraft.
"These pictures are further evidence that uncontacted tribes really do exist," Survival International director Stephen Corry said.
"The world needs to wake up to this, and ensure that their territory is protected in accordance with international law. Otherwise, they will soon be made extinct," he said.
Survival International says the most of the world’s 100 uncontacted tribes are in grave danger of being forced off their land, killed and ravaged by new diseases.

marianna 30-05-08, 05:05 PM It is still amazing to see pictures like this knowing we have been to outer space....the world is a very diverse place indeed.
Orgullo 30-05-08, 05:07 PM niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ce
i wish to see them face to face
its amazing how simple they live..
I can see the women are painted in black and men in red.
marianna 30-05-08, 05:13 PM I wonder what they thought of the plane or heliocopter that was over them. If they never saw anything from the modern world that in and of itself had to freak them out a little bit.
Orgullo 30-05-08, 05:14 PM ^^^
its the evil bird
marianna 30-05-08, 05:23 PM I sincerely doubt that. The Amazon has many resources people tap into and also many people out there just as willing to protect it for that very nature.
So for this bird to happen on these people was only a matter of time.
LOL! Cannibals! they still exist!
is the forest very condense that such people have never seen the outer world?
Its always good to try to live with such people (bad if they eat human beings tho! :hyper:)
Orgullo 30-05-08, 06:13 PM Apocalypto

How'd you know they're Cannibals ?
marianna 30-05-08, 06:17 PM I doubt they are cannibals. But I do wonder what they are thinking right now because being closed off from such things imagine seeing a flying machine....no wonder their bows were drawn. I feel for them in some ways. I hope if they are visited the people are not sick with anything. Since such native tribes do not have a natural immunity to what we have been exposed to. Simple things such as chicken pox could kill them.
Actually, chances are their immune systems are way better than our average person's.
marianna 30-05-08, 06:23 PM From what I understand regarding people closed off like this they tend to have weak immune systems when it comes to what we have been through. Even the common cold can get them or the flu.
Pen_it_Black 30-05-08, 06:25 PM Scary =/
I read something once about a tibe in papua new guinea that still hasn't discovered the wheel yet xD I find that unbelievably hard to comprehend!
That's one school of thought. I'm not saying it's not possible, only less likely. Those Amazons have lived in the wild and if they ever had been treated with medication it'll probably be nothing more than common tribe herbs. People now take medicine all the time even for illnesses such as cold (I don't). So their immune system is not experimenting much with disease. The disease is wiped out before the body studies it. People who don't take medications, however, allow their bodies to naturally build defenses against those diseases. The modified systems might not show in themselves but maybe in their next generations. You can think of it as a part of evolution.
Besides...you don't know for sure whether those Amazons have been faced with some of our known diseases or not.
LOL .. very nice!
I would love to meet these people ..
Amazing!
Soulless 30-05-08, 08:31 PM Whats their Religion ? :)

marianna 30-05-08, 08:34 PM If they have a religion soulless I think it would more related to nature than anything we normally think of.

You haven't heard of Saudi Arabia? :p
But sorry guys, we won't be coming in direct contact with them any time soon. Efforts to protect that will be in full force.
I suggest burning them and throw them in the sea.

The biggest risk such isloated tribes face is wipeout from a disease brought in by an outsider, since they have no immunity to it at all. A simple cold or flu could kill a tribesman, and it's common for tribe members to die when they first have contact with an outsider. An enitre culture that took years to develop could be wiped out in mere days. That's why scientests who come in contact with them wear maks and other precautions to avoid passing on any disease.

And I was wondering why you are so interested in this topic. :)
I think these people will realize the existance of God by default.

This is what happened when thr native americans met white and black people-
Disease began to kill immense numbers of indigenous Americans soon after Europeans and Africans began to arrive in the New World, bringing with them the infectious diseases of the Old World. One reason this death toll was overlooked (or downplayed) is that disease, according to the widely held theory, raced ahead of European immigration in many areas, thus often killing off a sizable portion of the population before European observations (and thus written records) were made. After the epidemics had already killed massive numbers of American natives, many European immigrants who arrived assumed that the natives had always been few in number. The scope of the epidemics over the years was enormous, killing millions of people—in excess of 90% of the population in the hardest hit areas
