World_Trekker 22-05-08, 02:34 PM Malta is a wonderful island nation with Valetta as its capital . It's an exotic hirtorical city.
Of course, this is dedicated to our naughty gal minerva and respected member Thalia :hyper:

World_Trekker 22-05-08, 02:51 PM Hello again Nosa ! These photos are not mine. I've never been to Malta or US mid-west /St Louis , but I really want to learn about different places :)
I'm feeling a little left out here... :hmm:
Right.
Malta is a country made up of a group of islands.
Malta being mainland, Gozo is the sister island, Comino is very small and Filfla is basically a big rock.
You can drive from one tip of Malta to the other in under an hour.
For anyone who is interested in seeing pictures of this place, click here (http://www.onlyinmalta.com/index3.html).
The link may not work for some people. Blame the folks who ban your url's.
Malta hanina
Hobza w sardina :hyper:
(Malta is kind, bread and sardine)
Minerva has a big house and takes lodgers. Please, take a ticket. :hyper:
World_Trekker 22-05-08, 02:58 PM Thalia, so you're a Maltese ? lol.. I didn't know that.. always thought you as an Arab :hyper:
So you & minerva are gud frens , very glad to know. Do you live in Valetta the capital city ? I will try searching for Gozo, Comino, and Filfla pics and post 'em here if I found any :)
World_Trekker 22-05-08, 03:01 PM This is for our bro Wudjab

don't forget Jeff & Jack (I don't know what r their hometowns hehe)!
World_Trekker 22-05-08, 03:28 PM And how about you Sama ?
marianna 22-05-08, 04:23 PM Thanks World Trekker that is soooo sweet. The arch looks gorgeous at night when it is lit up. The Mississippi which runs alongside St. Louis has a major historical significance to American commerce from the time of the pioneers. You can see it in the distance with the second picture.
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!! :) :)
NicoBambi 22-05-08, 04:27 PM I don't live in Paris! :bored: lol
but thanks :p
World_Trekker 22-05-08, 04:31 PM Where do u live ?? Marseiile or Lyon
World_Trekker 22-05-08, 04:35 PM I'm Omani :D
Then sorry buddy :bored: Lol but I've already posted many pics of Oman hehe

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!! :) :)
You're welcome Marianna :)
Sometimes I got confused between St Louis and St Paul ( which is the twin city of Minneapolis ), and yes that Arch is symbolic of St Louis. How far is your place from the downtown ?
marianna 22-05-08, 04:36 PM My place is only 15 minutes from the arch. :D
I think Wudjab is from Toronto, and the Kuwaiti girls are from Ottowa.
And is that the best picture you could get of Paris?? :p

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!! :) :)
I spent a few minutes staring at the second picture.. I think it's beautiful and amazing how the houses are nestled between so many trees.
Malta is tiny. Simple space is precious. When I look at pictures of the US, I can't help but admire the open spaces.. stretches of just nothing.. and the gardens or 'yards' that come standard with so many homes.. a yard here is a 10x20ft tiled patch of floor surrounded by walls where you'd hang your washing out IF you happen to have a ground floor residence.
marianna 22-05-08, 05:25 PM That was taken probably in late fall because usually that area is so very very green. Missouri's topography is diverse with rolling hills, cliffs, and a mountain range. I love it better than my home state of Indiana which flat flat flat........

I think Big Jack's from somewhere near Galveston, not Austin or Houston (no offence btw Jacko;)).
Trekkie, it's a nice idea to open a thread about people's home towns. But as you don't know what anyone's home town is (although you got Marianna's right..one out of four so far!), why don't you just post pics of your own home town and invite others to do theirs?! :D
marianna 22-05-08, 07:26 PM I am originally from the outskirts of (read country) Evansville, Indiana but relocated to St. Louis, Missouri for a job. St. Louis is prettier. :D

I will have to visit Malta one day, on my way to Oman.
minerva 22-05-08, 07:51 PM thanks marianna....
this is a typical sight in our little countryside. a chapel.
farmers in the olden times didn't have cars to get to their daily mass, so they built little chapels in the middle of the fields and had a priest coming over to say mass for them.

The problem is connection.. do you have direct flights from Valetta to Asia ? I think I must travel from KL to London or Rome before connecting to Malta.. :mmhmm: Your Ministry of Tourism should make a big promotion in Far East becos' very few people know about ur country.

Something doesn't smell right here.
marianna 22-05-08, 09:34 PM DAMN what a huge chessboard. I did see something simliar at a lodge here in Missouri. I would love to play!!!!!!!!!
Loved Texas. Was stationed in Fort Hood for over 3 years, and did many a field problem out there. Daughter was born there. Nice place, nice people.
marianna 22-05-08, 09:42 PM I lived here for about 21 years
Visted my family in Ponce every summer for 3 months apiece
NicoBambi 22-05-08, 09:48 PM I love the old boat !
World_Trekker 22-05-08, 09:59 PM Woow lovely Puerto Rico !! I know it belongs to US, but its culturally opposite to everything in US. I met a Mexican-born Puerto Rican gal Erika and she is damn friendly.
Ponce - a lovely place !
marianna 22-05-08, 10:02 PM Those boats were very commonplace in the 1800's. I love them! :)
One thing about Puerto Ricans is that they love to sing (in general) but saw it allot on the streets. People talking, laughing and even breaking out into a song. Reminds me of a Disney cartoon...and they are very vibrant...down on the island people are just very casual and open....the ocean spectacular.

I have many Egyptian friends both among Muslims and Christians. They are all very friendly and hospitable people.
Everybody says Alexandria far more livable than Cairo due to its wide space and relatively low amount of traffic.

I've only been to Threadlikes hometown. Went to one of the night clubs there and drank juice and smoked sheesha. I'd go back for sure, even just for the lemon juice.
But I have to admit I preferred Luxor out of all the cities I visited in Egypt. And I liked Dahab, but thats really Sinai.
