What does Islam say about those who brag?

1- Muslims must never brag about their sins. Allah Almighty will never forgive the sins that are advertised.

Those who brag about doing good will go to hell. 3:188 (surat Al 3mran)

How about showing off your wealth? I was just thinking about this in the context of another thread.

Showing off your wealth? Well, if you buy stuff just because you like them and spend your money on something you admire and it just happens that the purchased item would be viewed as something one would "show off", then how is that your fault if you did not intend to show it off? I don't think it is frowned upon in Islam if you buy expensive stuff, however, it might be if you intended to show it off.

All to do with intentions :)

There is a Prophet hadith that says: No one enters Heaven where in his heart an atom of "kibr" .. Kibr is feeling that you are above others.

So no, its haram to brag about what you have and make others feel down.

Mimosa, there is also a hadith that says: God likes to see the effect of his blessings on his servant. إن الله يحب أن يرى أثر نعمته على عبده
its good to show that you are blessed by Allah and not be stingy when you have money .. but its not right to do it for showing off only.

I think you are refering to this hadeeth:

'Abdullah ibn Mas'ood (May Allah be pleased with him) reported
from the Prophet (sallallahu alayhe wa salam) that he said:
"A person who has an atom's weight of pride (kibr)
in his heart will not enter Paradise".
A person asked: "But one does like to wear good clothes and shoes!"
The Prophet (sallallahu alayhe wa salam) replied:
"Indeed Allah is beautiful and loves beauty!
Pride means to reject the truth and to look down on others!"
