The earthquake in China is devastating.

There is an even more poignant aspect to this tragedy.

Due to China's One Child Policy, so many families have been destroyed because their only child perished in the earthquake.

Dreadful...

What can one say about these disasters? They boggle the mind. But at least in most cases there's no one to blame.

But the One Child policy is a manmade disaster.

are they accepting aid? or is this case like burma again?

How tragic, especially right before the Summer Olympics.

I heard this morning on the news, that some teacher in a school told all the kids to get under their desk during the quake, but then that teacher exited the building and all those kids died.

That's got to be worse than death, to live knowing that.

Also heard (by a Chinese student at my uni) that there was a chemical factory destroyed and all the chemical stuff are polluting the area :os

almost 20,000 dead already :os

that's sad.

It reaching to many thousands. Sad.

It struck a highly-populated area near Chengdu..

I heard the death toll is at 50,000 so far.
