MashAllah...This is incredible.
Elvenblade 14-05-08, 12:27 PM astonishing
its looks amazing
zulfa1981 14-05-08, 12:32 PM it's amazing it is a paradise
UmKhalid 14-05-08, 01:10 PM Very Aladdin-ish. Beautiful architecture.
They make everything attractive and show-off. It's beautiful though.
PrinceofArabia 14-05-08, 02:23 PM architect beautifully. But why he is standing on the prayer mat with his shoes, none there told him to respect and get respected.
5alfanooh 14-05-08, 03:10 PM beautiful architecture, but its all about competition.. its overly done, mosques never ment to be like that.. Sultan Qaboos grand mosque is beautiful cuz of its simplicity. personally I don't like the domes, the tree tiles on the columns, nor the gold decoration on top of the columns but honestly, its GRAND... and attracitve,, its good to visit but not to pray, i think the atmosphere wouldnt help.
it does look AMAZING ;) i loved the design .. everything they build in UAE is breath taking actually :)
may allah bless his soul
Dam3eti 14-05-08, 03:21 PM It's amazing, apart from the escalator it's a mosque not a shopping mall!
Very Niiice! Very much beautiful mashalla!
Amazing!
FLORENTYNA 14-05-08, 04:26 PM wow amazing MashaAllah
cLueLess 14-05-08, 04:38 PM It kind of reminds me of Taj Mahal from the outside.
The escalator, those flowery columns and the "glow-in-the-dark" walls and ceilings look misplaced in a mosque. I don't know, I just think it's za7ma (trans: too much?).
architect beautifully. But why he is standing on the prayer mat with his shoes, none there told him to respect and get respected.
that is not prayer mat, its carpet and it is differnet than the other carpet there dont u c? so they put it there just for him to come with his shoes
fatamooo 14-05-08, 06:56 PM It's amazing, apart from the escalator it's a mosque not a shopping mall!
Lol!!! This is dubai we're talking about, what did you expect? It has to at least look like the emarati natural habitat otherwise it would be very hard for them to get used to it
fatamooo 14-05-08, 07:00 PM That is one beautiful mosque - it looks like the kind of place you'd want to keep going back to.
I'm not a fan of the flowery paintings on the pillars, it looks slightly over the top to me. Oh and too many fountains and pools is kind of wasteful in a DESERT COUNTRY for crying out loud. This is a mosque anyways! it's not a place for opulence and majesty. There's a thin line between luxurious and garish.
Manchester 14-05-08, 07:03 PM This is so elegant, but it just seems too much for a mosque!
woow woow woooooooooow :o:o:o:o
subhan allaaaaah. it is paradise.
woow

Are you kidding me, the first time I went to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque I had trouble focusing on my prayer because of the beauty of the carpet in there. Had to close my eyes and all :p
FAITH86 14-05-08, 08:26 PM Amazingly incredible Mosque..

Orgullo 30-05-08, 01:46 PM ^^^

Threadlike 30-05-08, 04:13 PM ^Not anymore :D
The Haram Makki has escalators too.
Beautiful mosque.
Which mosque is bigger, this or the one in Al Madinah Al Munawwarah?
minerva 06-06-08, 01:55 AM it's absolutely stunning. i like the escalator idea, will give people with disabilities and old people who can't walk large distances access.
can someone tell me the difference (if there's any difference at all) between a mosque and a masjid?
Orgullo 06-06-08, 02:12 AM ^^^

it just mosque in english
masjid in arabic

There's no difference between a mosque and a masjid. Mosque is the English word for Masjid. I have no idea where did it come from, though.

I googled a little.
the term 'mosque' is derived from the Spanish word for "mosquito." It was termed as such because during the Crusades, King Ferdinand said they were going to go and swat the Muslims like mosquitoes".
(Where else can they find Muslims in large number to be swatted if not in a Masjid?). So, they cheekily termed "Masjid" as "Mosque".
minerva 06-06-08, 04:08 PM lol i had no idea that mosque came from mosquito. is that a joke or for real?
Arabian Princess 06-06-08, 05:22 PM I dont beleive there is a difference between the two words .. there was some e-mail circullation saying that the word is derived from mosquito.
UmKhalid 06-06-08, 08:05 PM I remember those e-mails. Non provided sources. Only words to stir up peoples' anger: "Whaaaat! They are making aas call tha masjid a mosquito haaaa!"
I don't believe it. And won't until I see proof.
Has anyone got the recent e-mail about the word 'God' having an evil hidden meaning? :XD:
