On a scale from 1 to 10, 10 being the most, how much do you contribute to or indulge into gossip?

I think I'd give myself a 3 out of ten, I don't contribute much nor appreciate it but I'm not a complete saint either and tend to slip from time to time by spreading something that I later on feel that I should have just kept my mouth shut about.

i dont gossip but i do occasionally when something major happened, i dont enjoy it when its making fun out of some1 outfit or looks or the way they talk.. its not not nice..

but sometimes when its about what every1 did n how they r in life, n whats new, then it's i guess ill join in.. but this is occasional..

n those magazine gossip pages, i just hate!

i dont know what to chose! a 4 is too much and a 2 is too little..

I am not at all a gossip person, never like, never do it !

I sometimes look weird between my colleagues at work when they start such thing and I just go on silent !


But I will give myself 2 cause I sometimes happen to be between people who spread gossip listen to them but never be part of the spreading process !

I would talk about me and the person I am with.
Then mention the funny things that happened with us.
If someone was involved so be it but I don't think that is gossip since it happened when we were there.

People talk about people a lot really.. I think that should stop!

I'd hate them to the deepest part of my gut and i would no longer respect them as a person. and i would think very low of them.

i gave myself a 4. I don't like gossping about people AT ALL but sometimes it does slip and i regret it later. But now i am working on getting that number down to zero! I HATE gossip! Disease in this country!

I despise those who DO gossip and i lecture them to not do such things. It's HARAM! You all say listening to music is haram and make a big issue of a small thing but it's okay to gossip? There are levels of haram and that is quite at the top. What can i say? some people were raised wrong. :)

I know one thing, those who you gossip about, on the day of judgement they will know what you have said about them and they will confront you. They may decide to forgive you or they make want to take away some of your deeds.

This is not something small. It's serious. You will be asked about it some day.

And i think that this poll wont be valid since some people wont be completely honest and they will make it look like they dont gossip too much when deep down on the inside you know it's not true.

Some will be honest though. That's why i gave myself a 4. I respect peoples' private life and i hope they do the same for me. If only people knew. If only people knew.

I dont like gossip and its totally haram .. but its in all women's nature to gossip.. this is why I chose 5 because I will be lieing if I said it doesnt slip and that sometimes without noticing I do gossip.

I don't like gossiping and I try not to gossip, but again as Nabhan said sometimes the tongue slips and might say something considers gossiping. I do listen to gossiping but I really condemn it. I voted 3

I rarely gossip. I chose a 2 which equates to rarely gossiping but does on occassion. I see it as a sin and bad karma. Don't want bad karma biting this *****.

Ppl who gossip are insecure, they talk about others finding faults in them so they can feel better about themselves. Other ppl gossip cause they have nothing to talk about, they want to be the center of attention thats why they gossip.

i always AVOID gossiping coz i don't want my words to reach some1 from other people XD i don't like talking badly about people behind their back

To be honest i do gossip BUT it's only when I'm mad at some person words come out of my mouth without me noticing ..but I'm no gossip girl that all girls like talking to cause shes got it all :p

I always try and avoid it, cz I hate it.

i think i'm a 3. if i was conversing with someone and they talked about someone else, i'd most probably listen, laugh, or agree. i almost never initiate anything..i guess i'm just not that interested.

i don't think there is anyone who doesn't gossip, it's natural.

I gossip with my best friend, only. She's someone I want to know everything I know lol, but we're not that much into other peoples lives..

5, because i dont do it like OMG but it's an occational thing. well lots of things r happening here and u gotta have ur head up high and gotta know everything so ur not behind or confused lol

I do sometimes when i'm pissed off at someone and need to vent out but not very frequently. Maybe just occasionally. I'd give myself a 5.

My cousins and I ALWAYS gossip but this is how it is: "What's said in the room stays in the room" That's our rule.. LOL!

With my friends I don't gossip at all.. If they tell me something I'd pass it from my right ear to the left ear..

I dont go and talk about ppl to other ppl, it always stays between the same ppl same as endure whisper and for me i rated a 6 i usually talk about sports, shopping and what not but than if were talkin about ppl its always something im sure of its never something i would make up and i think its in everyones blood

It depends with whom. With some, I gossip, with others I don't. I think I would give myself a 6 to average it out between the people I gossip with and the ones I don't :p

the problem is..when people gossip, they say, "i wanna tell you something but don't tell anyone"...then they tell them..then that person can't help it but spread it...feehom dooda (they have a worm) and then they go to someone and say, "ooh i wanna tell you something but don't tell anyone"...that is just pathetic! THAT IS GOSSIPING ALL THE SAME and it spreads!

I'd give myself a 5 i know a lot of people who love to gossip i personally don't mind it but i do feel guilty talking about people cause I'd hate people to be talking about me i think people gossip mainly because they are board.

I'd say I'm a 5 - I do tend to gossip, when it's someone who I know and when the subject is somehow relevant to me - other than that, no interest, really :P
And when I say I gossip, I mean that I listen to it, and discuss it with the person who tells me, because I don't usually know anything - people just tell me.
But I've been told a lot of real b.s., and you know as soon as you hear the gossip that it's very probably not true.

I don't like to spread rumours, but if something interesting happens then I'd like my friends to tell me about it. I find it entertaining..

I've had people gossip about me.You just learn to live with it because people will ALWAYS talk. You may be the talk of the town today, but they'll find something a lot more interesting to gossip about and then they'll forget about you.

If the incident or something happened in front of me (must be an interesting one :p).. I would talk about it but if it involved another person and embarrasses him or her than it would be different ..

I don't usually start of no where to just start gossip .. It's usually when we talking in a conversation and something related to the incident or the info that i know .. I would say it ..

If a person told me not to tell .. or at least gave me a sign to not telling than I wouldn't tell ..

I gave myself a 3, I believe i would rarely contribute with a gossip, though I do contribute to listening to them from time to time, depending on what's it all about. Sometimes it's a source of information, though unreliable one or so it can be attempted to be justified.

A1. From my observation people in general like to talk. It comes naturally, when they have nothing in particular -An interest, field of work or study- to talk about they would by default talk about other people. Some people do it out of enjoyment, other do it out of bordem, some do it with no harm intended and others do it with an agenda on mind. Though by the end of the day any gossip is just purely nasty.

At this point more awareness on what is gossip and what is the opposite of it should be spread. Perhaps it could assist in decreasing it or is that wishful thinking... hmm

A2. Overall, I would not care. But if it was the type of bad gossip that can directly affect me, my family or work then I would definitely be upset and attempt to correct it at least with those I care about and close to me. Other then that, Allah forgive who spoke badly about me.

If I knew who it was, I might have a little chat with him/her to understand the 'why' factor.

I'm a 3. Gossip is the reason I have only few friends who I very much trust and keep my relationship with the rest very formal.
