When you buy something, do you like to get it because it’s expensive/pricey and brand name or do you focus on the quality of the product more?

Does something being expensive mean that it’s of good quality ? Does something being cheap mean that it is of bad quality?
……..
For example, I see many women buying the Hanayen abayas and scarfs. Personally, I think hanayen is expensive for no good reason and I’ve heard complaints on their abayas being of cheap material and that it tears easily. Some people buy it JUST BECAUSE of the brand name. I don’t think Hanayan has good designs really. Now, First Choice House on the other hand, the prices are not too bad and they also have really nice designs and the quality is great! With FCH you’re getting a good price AND good quality.

For me, buying something…….. if I think it has good quality AND it looks nice AND I like it (even if it’s expensive) then I will get it.:p Sometimes if I like or want something bad enough, then I don’t care if it’s pricey. It has to be all of those things together though.

When it comes to some other things, I wont let the high price or brand name fool me. I don’t always think that if it’s expensive then it’s good. No. I look at the product’s quality first and check it out and see if I’M satisfied. I am careful of what I buy. If I will really benefit and be happy and I like it, I will get it. 99% of the time, the product I’d like calls for me and I just get a feeling that I should buy it coz it’s meant for me. I RARELY like things since I am not impressed easily and I am quite picky, but when I like something, it must be good :XD: I know that I am destined to get it. I don’t buy things very much though:XD: I only buy it if I really really want to or need to. I think the quality of the product is more important. The price should be the second focus. It would be great to have both. You usually get what you paid for.

Just an off-topic note:

When it comes to receiving gifts, I don’t care what it is. I will appreciate it and like it no matter what it is or how cheap or how small and simple. I will be just as happy :) I wont be picky at all.

Lol ok anyway..enough about me…..

What do you do/think?

It's First Choice, First Choice house is something different :p

Anyway I go with what I'm used to buying. For make-up I'm used to certain brand names so I buy them. When it comes to clothes I don't really own any brands, I like shopping at shops like Zara, Mango, Pull & Bear etc which aren't expensive. With bags I usually buy them from the same shops I get my clothes from unless its a brand name then my parents usually buy them for me. I don't think expensive items are always the best but they do last longer.

Same here and more expensive stuff do last longer because the quality is usually better.

Brands are important, not because of the name but because certain brands have a certain quality or reputation associated with them.

Like for electronics, I'd go for one of the big brands (Sony, Panasonic, etc). For phones, I'd stick to Nokia or Sony Ericsson. For clothes, I'll go to the shops that I normally buy things from (not necessarily designers, but branded clothing that I like the style and quality of - Zara, Ted Baker, Karen Millen, Monsoon, Gap, etc). As for make-up, I'd stick to certain brands as well that I know work well for me and aren't harmful to my skin (MAC, Estee Lauder, Clinique, YSL, Dior, etc).

I wouldn't buy something just because it was expensive - on the contrary, I'd rather save on some things so I have more to spend on others.

I care the most about my abayas, shailas, handbags, shoes, those should be from the brand shops, I really don’t care about the clothes since I wear abaya every time I go out unless if I have a party then I would be picky.

The brand can decide, though sometimes its the specifications, most of the time I don't care about the price, I don't go paying that much unless I am sure of what I am buying.

I find it really frustrating when I see an item with an unrealistic price. Like once, I got into this shop in alkhuwair, they are supposed to be selling ready made evening gowns and the prices ranged between 250 – 600 R.O. I found It extremely expensive for the quality of the material, the stitching, fitting …..etc.

Some people seriously think that if something is expensive then it is all that and I am sure this shop owner had the same mentality.

I don’t mind paying however the same amount or even more for a dressed that I thought was worth it.

I relized that when i started buying cloths for Australia.. first year i used to buy normal stuff and then i relize that they are not good enough for long-term then i started buying the expensive stuff and you can relize the difference.. Quality in Designs and Durability.. same applies to Omani Handmade Kumma's. They last more than 10 years in the same condition, its just the design gets older.. but the colours never faded if they were Good Quality

The more Expensive the Better Quality.

Brand name matters with things like make up and other related items, with clothes i just get what i like. Some items are just nicer when thier more expensive like wallets etc. so its what i can afford and still looks good. ;)

Whether something is expensive or cheap it doesnt necessarily relate to quality, especially with clothes, for being abroad the cheaper stuff are much more practical, expensive stuff need maintaining ;p anyhow, i get whatever i like regardless of the price. whatever i can afford goes ;p

i buy if i like, doesn't matter wat it is, but it should fulfil wat i want otherwise i wont buy it.
But just one exception here, body sprays and colognes and perfumes, i buy those for the brand names, just to try em all.

I wouldn't buy something because it's expensive or because it is one of the good brands. I usually buy what I am used to and what suits me best.

Same here. It also depends on whether or not I can afford it xD
