Some people would rather die than go to a doctor and explain that.
~ Are you one of these people?
~ If you think there's something wrong with some part of your body, do you try to treat yourself at home (with natural products or medicines from a pharmacy) and if it doesn't heal or get better you go to the doctor? Or do you go to the doctor directly?

I hate going to doctors, although I have to go to two of them now :bored: I won't go, unless I'm forced to.

If I have any issues with my body, I go and get it check with a doctor. If it is a fever or cold, I take the medicine I'm used to take and they work fine with me.

god i know of people who go to the doctor every week.
i don't.
i leave the doctor as the last resort. and i get to see one a year or two.
I always go to the doctors when I need to, that includes going to get a medical certificate for an extension on an assessment :p

i usually try to heal it myself and if it doesnt...go to a doctor...
I hate having to go to the doctor and even talk about it to him, sometimes it gets really embarrassing. But I have no choice esp that I need that damn medical certificate to get off work for a day or two. lol

My grandmother says "Let nature take its course, patience is all that's needed"- more or less around that line-. It's only my dentist that I visit twice a year. Other than that, I wouldn't normally rush to the hospital for minor situations like a cough or flu. It's only if there is no other alternative and I'm in terrible shape.
I don't mind going to doctors, but I barely do. Only for major things. For minor things, I either just ignore it, or consult my private doctor (brother:p) haha ...
But in general, I have nothing against doctors.

i think doctors find it annoying when people go there to waste their time over something simple that can be remedied with an over the counter treatment....

Thanks to Allah I haven't got any health issues at this stage of my life
I do get myself tested periodically, I request all the tests & then ask a nurse to draw my blood
Regarding what Minerva mentioned, GP services are generally being abused over here in Oman, before starting my specialization I worked one year as a GP, people just walk in for time pass & for drug shopping, they come to collect the following medications:
1- Paracetamol
2- Cough syrup
3- Saline drops
4- Mouth wash
5- Cortisone cream
6- Vaginal pessaries for Candida
7- Moxal
8- Laxatives
9- Brufen
10 Actifed
And many more, all that for just 0.200 O.R (approx 50 cents)
Besides drug shopping, another major issue is asking sick leaves without being sick

I don't visit doctors & I hardly take medicine. The last time I have been there for a serious issue was in 1999, it was something with my eyes, in 2002 I was there again for a medical check & this was required to start my job.
If I had to see one then I'd go as long as am having a serious problem, I hate anything that got to do with hospitals although half of my family works in the medical field.
I go there when I have no choice !
I don't like going to them and try my best not to unless am suck
I have my yearly medical check-ups.
Other than that if im sick i do go to doctors before taking any meds.
The people who dedicate their lives to help people, who else will we goto?
i usually hate going to the doctors and hospitals i try my best to avoid them however if I'm really sick and something is wrong with me I'll go,but call me a baby i have to go with one of my parents i can never go to a doctor or to hospitals by myself.

I hate going to the hospital unless there is something I am following up (Gyn & Obs) or I am realy sick and I need the day off (sick leave).

well... not really.
But you didn't tell us today what would you and your husband do in such cases? :dev:
I never go to the doctors. Last time I went to see a doctor was 2-3 years ago. Actually, going to the hospital to visit someone makes me feel sick :os with that weird smell that reminds me of miserable times!

I don't go to the hospital much. If I'm sick, I just buy the pills I need over the counter or my parents get the ones that require a prescription for me (since they're doctors) and I stay at home and get over whatever I have.
It's only when the situation is severe and the pills aren't doing anything for me, that I go to the hospital for a shot or for an IV drip (like when I get food poisoning).

Last time was Summer 2006 the day after I got my Thanawiya Results. I only go to the doctors when I'm really sick.

i think doctors get abused the world over.
over here, if you want a day off sick, you phone work at 8 am, they send the work doctor along, and you complain of back ache or diahorrea. (something that the doctor can't really prove)
a person i know, who has a habit of taking days off sick, once complained of 'backache'. the doctor realised she was lying, so while visiting her...the doctor drops his pen. she bends down as quick as anything to pick it up.
the doctor goes 'oh looks like your backache has gone, you go to work tomorrow mrs'.
saved the government two weeks of sick wage.
i hate people who abuse the system.
I dont generally go to doctors for cold or stuffy nose.

Thats it, moving to Valletta
