View Full Version : Hyrdocise?
Endure Whisper 27-04-08, 07:14 PM I started going to the gym recently that's hydrocise based. Basically, what you do is go around 10 machines and stay on each machine for 30 seconds. (none of the machines include a treadmill or a cross trainer).
A friend of mine told me that I should support hydrocise followed by pilates, and that should be enough.
Another friend said that hydrocise based exercises aren't that effective and I should consider going to a gym with treadmills and cross trainers.
I hope I'm not so confusing :p and you guys get what I mean!
So which is better/more effective and why?
UmKhalid 27-04-08, 08:05 PM 30 seconds ONLY on each machine?! :os
marianna 27-04-08, 08:07 PM I usually spend 20 minutes on the treadmill and about three minutes on each machine I plan to use.
Never heard of this other form of exercise. Does it pump the blood faster and make all muscles work together? What are the positives about it?
Cinnamon Queen 27-04-08, 08:11 PM actually hydrocise is excellent, it gets your white muscle fibres working. I did it for a month and became really fit. I did two rounds everyday, followed by the body pump class and then into the sauna. I dont know if this is of any relevance though hehe :)
30 seconds ONLY on each machine?! :os
exactly!
we use to do this thing when i ws in the swimming team.. we switch machines after 1 minute on each for like 10 times.. i dont know if that's the same as wt ur mentioning.. but b4 that we have to run for 30 minuets on a treadmill
Dam3eti 27-04-08, 08:46 PM I don't think its enough I tried this work out before and even though its tiring and you lose your breath 30 mins is not enough workout to lose weight. You need to lose atleast 500 calories a day to lose weight.
Cinnamon Queen 27-04-08, 08:47 PM no its like a series of equipments, and theres a buzzer which buzzes every 30seconds, and you have to move from one to the other.. its usually, weights then cardio, then weights then cardio, etc.

That's what I am hoping to figure out from this thread so I can make up my mind where to go.

With this and pilates, you lose 750 calories a day. Can it be good enough?

Yes, but then you go around the machine three time.. so that's a total of 30 minutes workout.
Dam3eti 27-04-08, 10:55 PM I guess if you do burn 750 calories then its more than enough. Where do you go for pillates?
Endure Whisper 27-04-08, 11:25 PM ^ I don't yet. I am going to start at Fit Body next week if the hydrocise is good enough! I went there yesterday to check it out and one of the customers encouraged me to join.. she said she was 132 kilo three months ago and now she weighs 95 kilos! Impressive hu! But she also had some carb/protein diet going on.
Dam3eti 27-04-08, 11:26 PM Where's that?
Endure Whisper 27-04-08, 11:29 PM Shatti Al Qurum.. the right side of Al Bawab.. you know there's a narrow road going in there, you get in and it should be on your left.. soo it makes more sense to say it's behind bawab but you take the narrow street to the right of Bawab..
Also you can get to it through Ramada.. you can park at Sahwa school parking lot and walk towards the left side of Ramada's entrance..
Hope I was clear!
Dam3eti 27-04-08, 11:36 PM Oh I know the place, but I didn't know it was called that, and didn't know they had other classes other than the 30 min work out. So pillates is during the day? Since after 6 or 7 it's mixed right?
Endure Whisper 27-04-08, 11:44 PM Every class is an hour. 30 minutes workout (hydrocise) and 20 minutes pillates.
Mixed classes start from 6:30 to 8:30 :)
Libellula 28-04-08, 12:17 AM Hmm I actually never heard of hydrocise before now so I don't know if it's effective or not.
I've trained with a personal trainer and my workout plan consists of 15 mins jog on the treadmill, 15 mins on the cross-trainer (Kilimanjaro hill mode, level 11 which is an absolute killer), and then a bunch of different weight machines, followed by sit ups. This normally takes 45 mins or so. I do this 5x a week although I'm not supposed to lift weights on all days, it should be alternate days. I still lift them all 5 days though. I want my arms and legs to be more toned. I take one day of the week off, and then for the last day I go to a one hour Pilates class.
So far, this has been very effective for me. I lost 11 kgs, went down almost 2 sizes in clothing (used to wear a UK 12, now I am a loose size 10/can fit in to some size 8 stuff) and I am maintaining my weight. All this in just a few months.. Plus I still get to have sweets and junk food every now and then so I'm not following a compulsory strict diet.
I highly recommend going for Pilates no matter what kind of workout program you have. It's so good for toning yourself, improving your balance and flexibility, plus it helps you relax. I feel soooo relaxed and calm after the class. Wish I could do it every day.
